Like most Americans, I fell into the Tom Baker ones during the Star Wars era. Kind of fell out of it after I went to college (Peter Davidson period), and never got back into it.
When the new show started out, I was blown over by the improved production values and Chris Eccleston's acting. Now I'm totally into Tennant, Torcchwood, and the Sarah Jane adventures (that the Tom Baker nostalgia). Best thing about the whole new Who phenomenon is that the family loves it too (though I had to stop the kids watching Torchwood).
The big thing about Who, though, is that it's now getting overexposed. I have a bad feeling it's about to jump the shark in the next year or so, primarily b/c the Dr. is regenerating again and Captain Jack is jumping ship.

Personally, I tried to watch an episode of Dr. Who once and couldn't get into it. That's just me. It has a huge following though and has been on forever. It has a track record longer than Star Trek, longer than Star Wars and a world wide following of intense fans. It may not be my thing, but it's certainly not over-rated.Leave a comment:

I used to like the old stuff but haven't gotten into the new version other than a couple of clips I've seen on You Tube...Leave a comment:

LOL . . . I love a good revenge thread!
I think Queen and Doctor Who are about on a par. . . now. . .is that diplomatic enough!

I've completely fallen for the new shows. Some of the older ones may be a bit long, but I still enjoy the Tom Baker eps I've seen.Leave a comment:

Hahahahahaha.
I honestly feel the same way. I tried to enjoy it but I guess I just don't get it. Not knocking it for people who like it though. More power to 'em.Leave a comment:

I mean seriously, who watches this stuff?
I watched it one time, I nearly went into a coma.
Sorry, but I rather watch a piece of metal try to grow some branches.
