I used to love a ham and cheese deli sandwich, however i recently switched over to roastbeef & cheese.

I'm wondering if what i'm thinking of is a deli is not the norm around the country (except for the east coast)

I'm talking about a small shop --- where you can buy cold cuts, get a cold sandwich made ... and in the morning get a begal and some coffee.

Yeah...in Latin cultures, delis are not the norm...like in heavily Cuban populated Miami...you mostly get the torta Cubanas at these truck or small eatery stands...and stuff like that.

But here where I live, especially in San Francisco that has a very large Italian population with its own District of North Beach (little Italy), you get a deli or a café on every friggin' corner, lol.

Most Deli's around here are Jewish owned ...

I think that's why we have our own unique style -- and I like it

Theres a place in the strip district called Pirmantti Brothers, they make the best sandwiches. They make a ham and roast beef with fried eggs and french fries and cheese. It comes wrapped up in paper that is totally soaked in grease and oil by the time you are done.Alot of time I think the bread makes the sandwich,it needs to be thick and squishy with lots of butter.
