How do you buy beer in your state ?

You can indeed buy beer in any supermarket here, and at McDonald's.
There's also vending machines everywhere, to make sure that any child has easy access to alcohol. If you want, you can drink beer here before you can walk. You certainly won't be walking afterwards.

California has the most sane liquor laws anywhere. All booze (beer, wine and spirits) can be bought at ANY store (grocery store, liquor store, convenience store etc) from I believe 6am to 2am EVERY DAY. That is only 4 hours out of the day you can't buy booze.

I currently live in Kansas. In the county I live in we can buy booze on Sunday, but this a relatively new thing (last 5 years). Most counties out here do not have Sunday liquor sales. All liquor, wine and REAL beer is found at liquor stores. They close at 11pm. The grocery stores here sell a watered down beer called 3.2. They sell it until midnight.

So many of these so called "Blue Laws" are utterly irrational and ridiculous.

Hmm…I'm not sue b/c I started drinking after they privatized. I'll have to ask someone. It's way more convenient though.

If it is anything like the U.S., I didn't notice much of a difference.

The County run alcohol stores a county away are roughly the same prices as the private liquor stores here locally. Of course, we are talking county to county rules vs. province to province rules.

I Maine...You can buy Beer anywhere....convenience Stores, Redemption Centers, Super Markets(which now also Agentcy Liquor Stores).

I have to drive 30 miles to Bowling Green to buy beer. Glasgow is in a dry county. The voters here finally allowed the sale of alcoholic beverages at restaurants beginning this year. I think Glasgow has been dry since Prohibition.

I've lived here off and on for 31 years, and since the early 80's people have been trying to get an ordinance passed here to allow alcohol sales in local restaurants. It comes up every few years, and until 2007 was always soundly defeated at the polls. All of the local churches and a fair number of city leaders always banded together to get people out to vote it down. I think the main reason it actually passed this time was that Cave City passed a similar ordinance a year or so ago. Cave City is basically a wide space on the road only nine miles away, and I think alot of folks didn't want those alcohol sales going to another town so close by. This was also the first time there was a genuinely organized campaign *for* alcohol in Glasgow in the last thirty years. The fact that most of the major foes of the ordinance had finally died off or moved away didn't hurt either

To correct an earlier poster, Ontario does technically sell beer in a beer store, and liquor and beer at a liquor store. However, outside the cities liquor and beer are both sold in Beer Store and Liquor Store "partners" which are convenience stores that have a seperate till for the beer and wine sales. Many "partners" set their own hours as well. The one in Blackstock, ON is open to 23:00 every night of the week. IMO, that is the biggest joke about stopping privitization. Most of the province is already selling beer and liquor in convenience stores, so why not do away with the Beer Store and Liquor Store altogether?

Convenience stores, Supermarkets, but most often Costco or Sam's. NJ had ABC stores in South Jersey (like PA) but not in North Jersey. Never understood that one.

At first prices stayed the same. Once liquor stores started popping up on every corner, and the grocery chains got in on it, the prices dropped a bit....Once in a while you get a price war going and there can be some deals.

Just about all grocery stores sell it,we've got state stores too.Even most bars sell 6 packs to go.You'll pay premium prices here though.

In Oklahoma, you can buy beer in just about any Grocery Store, Wal-Mart, or Convenience Store.

However, it is only 3.2%. Anything worthy of being called "beer", like 6-point or better, has to be purchased in a Liquor Store. That means if you don't have it on hand by 9 PM or before Sunday, you are out of luck. Plus, it is not refrigerated.

Missouri, specifically the Springfield area, has it good by comparison. They have this chain called "Brown Derby" that sells refrigerated singles of just about any beer you can imagine, so you can build a sampler six-pack (or case) and really expand your beer-tasting experience.
