Lived in Japan for three years and loved every minute of it! Made some great friends there and definitely remember laughing a lot, eating some great food, seeing some awesome Baseball, and partying my butt off in Rippongi.
The rest of the list:
Philippines (great people and awesome night-life!)
Hong Kong (3 times. Partied with loads of Brits, Aussies, and Scots. My favorite city!)
Singapore (Beautiful City. Great Restaurants.)
Thailand (Awesome beaches and LOTS of lovely Australian Women on holiday!)
Sri Lanka
UAE (Dubai!!!!)
Bahrain (Gulf Air Stewardesses!!!)
Diego Garcia, BIOT.
Russia (Right at the end of the Cold War when the Soviet Union was no more. I had met and worked with Russian Navy Personnel, but to go there and meet the people was a bit overwhelming. They were so gracious and welcoming, these recent enemies. I was walking by a church as a wedding was letting out and the wedding party insisted I be in all of the photos. Somewhere exists a photo of a Russian Bride sitting on my lap!)
Upon leaving Japan, I had orders to the Embassy in London and did I have some plans for Europe! However, cutbacks short-changed me of that experience just a month before departure and I've been in the States since.Last edited by saildog; Jun 3, '08, 7:11 PM.Leave a comment:

This thread is awesome! I'm trying to imagine all these places you/we've all visited as I read through them. I must say, so far Hector appears to be the best-travlled of the bunch! 'Cause, you know, this IS a competition.Leave a comment:

Actually, it wasn't all that cheap.
With the money we got back, we went on a scouting expedition for a new room. We ended up at the Marina, in the Surf Motel. We paid less, the guy gave us a big reduction, in exchange for a $50 under-the-table bribe.
In the end, we spent less than in the first hotel.
Should you ever go to San Francisco: try out the International Hotel. It's a experience. Tell them we sent ya!Leave a comment:

Places I have visited (note, most of the European locations were to the capital via Eurail, except for Spain, I went all over Spain on a stand-alone trip there):
Mexico (duh)
Argentina
Uruguay
Guatemala
Costa Rica
Canada (Vancouver)
Portugal (Lisbon)
Spain (Madrid, Barcelona, Granada, Seville, Toledo, Segovia)
Morocco (I felt like Indiana Jones, lol)
France (Paris)
England (London)
Ireland (we took my dad there seven years ago for some cancer treatments, it was a bitter-sweet trip)
Italy (Rome and Venice)
Greece (Athens)
Indonesia (Jakarta)
I have never visited Northern Europe aside from England and Ireland (would love too), only the Mediterranean area countries (England and Ireland being the exceptions of course).
I would love to visit Japan as well.
Alaska (U.S.) is another dream destination of mine.
I have not done any extensive travel in about seven years (Ireland being the last country outside of Mexico)...I think it's time to begin again once my schooling ends.
