The Rock will make a much better Luke Cage...Gibson like you said, is a midget.

Djimon Hounsou is said to be in the running for the Black Panther role:

Djimon Hounsou Has Comic Book Dreams That May Lead to Black Panther

I think that would be great casting, Hounsou is a GREAT actor, is buffed enough, tall, and he is a real African.

I'd go see that movie for sure.

Yeah, I love Pitt as Achilles and I think TROY was highly underrated. But even then you could see the age around Pitt's eyes -- he looks around 40 because, ya know, he IS. And TROY was filmed almost five years ago. Let's get a new actor that fits the bill, whether we're talking about Cap or the Thuder God.

What about Michael C. Duncan as Luke Cage? Definitely big enough.

I think the CAP and Thor movies could be either great or could be flops, just depends on who makes it. If a hack like Brett Ratner makes it, it'll suck. If somebody like del Toro, Raimi, or Nolan make it, it'll be great.
Ok... let me try... my knowledge of this comes from a 10 year old comic fan, so, experts correct me...
In the "ultimate" universe, character's origins and back stories can be radically altered and retold according to the writers whims. The stories are then not subject to alterations of "alternate universes" and live on as continuity ONLY in the Ultimate universe. Traditional and respected origins, plotlines, turning points and continuity can all be rearranged or flat out abandoned in the Ultimate universe. Essentially it breaks down to modern retellings of classic tales, with no ramifications or consequences falling upon the classic foundations of the earlier "classic" storylines. I.E. in comics, Green Goblin 2 is a villain for years, in the films he is killed off nearly immediately. The film death of GG2, in no way effects the continuity of the classic Spiderman universe. It exists entirely outside of said universe and as such is merely a side show. I am not sure if I am making this clear, as i myself am shaky on the concept. Ask my kid or a TRUE comic guy and you may get a different explanation. this is only the Ultimate Universe AS I UNDERSTAND IT... and I am still somewhat confused...

I think Cap would've had a better shot when they were churning out all of those W.W.II flicks awhile back.

Matthew Vaughan is no longer attached to Thor. His option expired in December and for whatever reason he and/or Marvel did not renew it. I find this disapponting as I liked what he did with Stardust and was looking forward to his take on my favorite Marvel.

Captain America Shield In 'iron Man' Flick Confirmed!

It was fast, but it was there.

As Tony Stark tests out his flight capabilities, eagle-eyed fans may have thought they glanced a familiar artifact just behind Stark—and they were right.

Captain America's shield is indeed on the worktable behind Stark. (See the pic below.) Wizard's sources inside Marvel Studios and Paramount confirmed the rumored shield cameo is indeed real and it is another nod to how Marvel will tie together films such as "Iron Man," "Hulk" (which features Robert Downey Jr. reprising his role as Stark) and the upcoming "Captain America," "Thor" and "Avengers" films.
                "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn"

In the Southeast Pacific, lies the sunken city of R'Leyh. There lies C'thulhu waits to return to our world with the other Great Old Ones. A hideous creature of enormous size and alien power, it waits for it's time to return patiently. For it has all the time in the world while it waits for the stars.

I knew about Hellboy but as my tastes tend to gravitate more toward mainstream Marvel and DC than the independent stuff I never gave it a 2nd thought. I think that's what needs to be kept in mind when production companies are green-lighting comic properties for film projects...know who your audience is.

Case in point, the aforementioned Daredevil....DD has been off the radar (pun intended) as far as mainstream goes for quite a while...he was merchandised more during the late 60s and 70s and was part of a group that always seemed to include Cap, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor and Sub-Mariner (in addition to Spidey). Thor also was heavily merchandised right behind Spider-Man and Captain America in the heyday of the Merry Marvel Marching Society. But today's mainstream audience is unfamiliar with these characters and you really need to have a fantastic movie and push the big sell.

Iron Man is a perfect example of this...he's always been a player in the Marvel Universe and has had some fringe success with his own animated series in the 90s as well as being part of the Marvel Super-Heroes 'toon in the 60s. But as far as mainstream merchandising today, before the movie he was pretty much non-existant. Now with a GOOD blockbuster movie and cross-promotions, Iron Man should be a household name for a while.
(Sadly, this didn't seem to work for Daredevil and Elektra...i.e. no tie-ins and sub-par films...so they've faded back into obscurity. Fantastic Four already had decent name recognition and a slew of toys...but pretty much crappy movies...back into obscurity perhaps?)

That's why I'm skeptical with B or C-list movies based on Sub-Mariner, Luke Cage, Black Panther, Ant-Man...I'm not sure the audience is there for these flicks, outside of us comic geeks. For Marvel, I think Captain America and the Avengers will work....Thor maybe if they can get that Lord of the Rings/Chronicles of Narnia crowd as well with an epic Asgardian saga. For DC, properties like Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and the Flash should be no-brainers...if they can ever get these projects off the ground.
