But that one I'd personally pick is Range Against the Machine: Battle of Los Angeles, released in 1999, that's my pick.

And just before that, 1992's Queen's Innuendo and Nirvana's Nevermind (good pick, Mikey).
¿Que, que? Hec, 2112 was released in '76; way before the albums you named. How is it too new?

Would not one of R.E.M.'s other albums, with the original line-up, qualify better than Life's Rich Pageant? Green (1988), Out of Time (1991), Automatic for the People (1992), Monster (1994).

Also a thought, since no one is mentioning female performers: Sheryl Crow's2nd album: Sheryl Crow (1996), and Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill. Again 20 years old at least. Or they don't fit the criteria?

Pageant came out in 86 waayyyy before Bill Berry split, so still the original line up(that's Berry on the cover, btw). It was two albums prior to Green. Document was in between. Pageant was the last great album from them, Collapse Into Now was good, and heading back in a right direction, but the band split after its release.

I'm also going to have to go with "NEVER MIND" because it brought Punk Rock to the mainstream. Sure they called it "Grunge"...but when I listen to the guitar cords, they are definitely PUNK! And really, before that Punk was mostly consigned to college radio stations...so I want to give credit where credit it due. Love Nirvana!

A 2nd choice would be Coldplay's Parachutes. Because it's one of the albums that I can listen to over and over a again and never get tired of it.

to me, jagged little pill is exactly what we are talking about here. but i think this board skews older (hell, i'm thirty six and i feel young here sometimes). Musical taste takes a severe halt as soon as you grab your diploma. it's like that for 90 percent of people i think....

That album has aged very well. It's the only Kiss album I still listen to with any regularity.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

The great thing about threads like this is it gives me a reason to check out albums I never have and revisit ones 8 haven't thought of in a while.
