^Hey, I have a house of Strawberry Shortcake dolls and a girl's room in her colors, so I always read through any posts on her. Not my bag, but I'm interested by osmosis.
My Strawberry Shortcake posts generally don't get a lot of replies. Doesn't stop me from posting about them though. Mostly out of spite. Mwhahahaha!
If you have Raspberry Tart or Huckleberry Pie let me know I"m looking to complete my set. I can offer some Holly Hobby rag parts in trade.
Looking for redhead AJ heads (or figures) - both bearded & clean shaven (I'm trying to complete all the variations).
Also seeking: 1 blue Soldier Ape glove, 1 General Ape boot, sun reflector from PotA Fortress playset.
Hey Vinny0026, since you lit a Piccolo Pete to start your post, why haven't you commented on the 4 pages of responses?
Sorry was building a dresser yesterday - plus trying to get the house clean for this baby.
So I think this post really proves the point
692 Views - 32 comments and a bunch of them from the same people
I like to thank everyone for their input and showing me some different points of view that I may not have though of before.
And again say that this post was not to complain my posts do not get attention or a lot of comment - it was an overall statement I see on many of the posts (well IMO in the customs section)
It was also not to debate or point anyone out. I'm just as guilty as some.
For me I mostly view the customs section and sometimes the market place.
I like to look at everyones collections when I have the time - I comment on all of those that I look at.
Like some -I do not even go into the other sections. Though I wish I had more time to. The fun house makes me laugh when I do go in - I should make it a point to visit that page more often.
at the end of the day each person here has the right to/ or the right not to comment on posts that they like or dislike.
I think there for a while I took it a little personally because I felt I went out of my way to comment on every figure posted in there.
also to Congrat anyone who won COTW. I admit that now if I notice customs from a person who never comments on my post - I just refuse to comment on theirs. So for that I'm guilty as charged.
I just feel to get respect you must also give respect.
While the post has turned a little towards me - again it was what I felt was happening to most posts in the custom section (IMO)
So I'm hoping that the input you all have provided will help me to see things in a different light going forward. There is only a handful of us here that check in everyday - or just about everyday
I would just hope we would all act more like the brotherhood that we are meant to be - or even claim to be.
Again I feel I'm friends with everyone here - I just hope that maybe I brought up a few points/ or a different view that maybe some never thought of or looked at - just as many of you showed me a different way to view things as well.
I only post on customs if they grab me in some way. Usually it's something I haven't seen before (like the recent Beetlejuice figure), or something that's done well enough to look factory produced (recent Quicksilver on type-S body). I also tend to like the ones that have most components made from scratch by the person doing the posting. Don't get me wrong, I've applauded kitbashes in the past. But honestly, I prefer scratch built. Even then, I'm a little leery. I think a lot of that comes from seeing many customizers in the past take credit for things that they didn't do (claiming a head shrink was an original sculpt, etc).
Again... these are the reasons why "I" post on some things and not on others. After 11+ years on the boards, it's my prerogative.
I also have certain preferences in style and content. For instance, I'm not a monster fan. I've seen some well executed monster figures over the years, but I'm just not all that interested in them in general. That's why (even though not customs), I have no interest in the Presidental Monster figures or anything to do with Zombies.
On a side note... I've noticed over the years that within the first 3-4 days of posting a custom, a 10% or higher response/view ratio means you've struck a cord with people (for example... out of 100 views, you've gotten at least 10 responses).
These are just my thoughts. Your mileage may vary.
I've been posting here since 2005, I know a few members who are here and a few who aren't. I post stuff but I understand, with so many people posting things get overlooked. Never get upset over that, it's part of socializing on the net. People have lives and they go in and out of here. I haven't been on as much because I've been busy with life. I've clashed with members who have insulted me when they don't know me and take personal shots at me. Instead of griping about it, I've just stayed away.
I do my best to look at most of the posts and comment on the stuff that catches my eye.Customs section is my Fav area. Lot's of time I just read some post but if I have nothing to add to it...I just pass. A like button or appreciate this post would be nice when there are no words to say.
