It's not a childish act though. It's brutal. And his country should have taken action like Ghana did today with their two players, one for physically confronting a team official.

You just can't compare faking an injury to gain a free kick advantage to actually putting your teeth on someone.

If FIFA cracked down on every player for faking fouls, there'd be no tournament.

Heck,they fake injuries all of the time in the NBA. Guys flopping all over the court,guys pretending someone smacked them in the face when they don't even touch them. Why should soccer be any different?

Fist of all, I wasn't saying Suárez was right. I was actually pointing out that what is wrong is wrong. This is not about a little bitty wrongs, and superlative wrongdoings. If the FIFA is banning Suárez for that childish act, why on earth they are blind to whatever a number of other players are still doing in this worldcup?

Hitting an opponent with an elbow, biting him, or faking a fault leading another team to lose a match (and a player for that game and another one!) are all WRONGS. If FIFA want some pristine all-clean sport, okay, that's fantastic, but banning one player while keeping others in the tournament isn't the best thing they can do for the sport.

Suarez had already been suspended twice and gotten heavy suspensions and penalties for biting before...yet he bit again in the World's biggest soccer stage...he's a complete IDIOT...he should've known better...he DESERVES to be OUT of the tournament...irrelevant if that hurts Uruguay's chances...irrelevant about other players acting like idiots...this was Suarez' IMBECILIC act...he was under a magnifying glass...yet he does that again...also...his history of racism with black players is INEXCUSABLE...that's just plain IGNORANCE and LACK OF EDUCATION...don't care if that's how he was raised...it's still WRONG, no ifs or buts about it.

Well, after reading your comments on Suárez, I wonder what are your opinions on the Brazilian player who faked a fault and got a penalty call for Brazil just when they were being surpassed by Croatia and not being able to "open" the game when they were 0-1 in the opening game of the worldcup (I think it was Fred, but I can be wrong on that). That guy... doesn't deserve to be banned from the tournament, too?

I feel tempted to make a bet on the Saturday match with you, Héctor.

Glad to see the USA between the best 16 teams of the tournament! I wasn't amused to see Müller scoring again, specially against the boys but what the heck. The tournament is still on. Not happy about Suárez being punished that way. They call it "going against the sport" alright, but I've always wondered what is the reason for FIFA to never do the same with ANY players who fake faults and get penalties doing that? Hipocrites! The day they start addressing that nasty custom the players will learn that they can't do that anymore. They get penalty calls, score, their countries win worldcups, and there is none addressing the problem! Instead, they ban Suárez and ruin the spectacle. Shucks! I like Perkeman's style a lot, and Colombia plays some really nice soccer, but still I believe Uruguay will beat them on Saturday. Colombia will miss Falçao much more than Uruguay Suárez.

Surely you can't equate faking injury or flopping to earn a penalty to physically attacking someone? Faking injury is gamesmanship and an "acceptable" part of the game at all levels. Happens in MLS every game.

Biting or physically attacking someone is just plain stupid and has no part in the game. Considering his track record, I wouldn't have been surprised if FIFA went further.

Saurez receives 11 match ban from playing for Uruguay and a 4 month ban from all other soccer which will keep him out of club soccer till January 2015.

The USA vs Germany may or may not be played today. Currently, the streets are flooded and everyone (staying in downtown Recife) is about 15 miles from the stadium. Currently, it's still raining.

At 11am EDT (in the US) one of the refs and a FIFA official will test the field and make a decision. Kick-off is scheduled for 12pm.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will be able to play today.

PS. The weather conditions are great in the Brasilia where Portugal and Ghana are playing today.

People keep forgetting that Brazil is the same size of the continental USA...so weather will vary all over the place....just like here in the States.

Also, it's Winter in Brazil right now.
