Should a Hoagie contain baloney ?

    Serious question.

Your answer could save the free world.

Just ordered a Hoagie and was shocked to see it only contained ham and salami

IMO, no baloney - no Hoagie

should I send it back ?

I always get the cold cut combo from subway and that's their formula bol/ham/sal. Boloney/bolagna is awesome in hoagies, accept no substitutes.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

It's a long piece of bread/bun with meat and cheese. Whatever name you choose to use, it's delicious.

I'm not enamored by any of the Subway breads, all of them have the texture of cotton candy...argh...

Nothing like real San Francisco sourdough, Italian ciabatta, French baguette, Danish rye bread, Mexican bolillo, and so on...

Having said that, Subway is a good alternative for something cheap, quick, and low fat...despite me criticizing its breads...I do on occasion frequent Subway, lol.

I do love bologna, but I don't think a Hoagie necessarily has to have it...it has had many incarnations throughout the years.

I guess it's up to our Italian-Americans in here to chime in on this subject, since they invented the bloody thing, lol.

I love all kinds of sandwiches, from plain stand alone bologna between two slices of white bread (with just a touch of mayo and mustard)...to an elaborate fancy king crab on a butter-toasted, fresh out the oven, San Francisco sourdough, it's all good, lol.

But if I had to choose my all time favorite sandwich...it's probably peppered turkey breast, sharp cheddar, with sliced avocados, tomatoes, onions, chopped pepperoncini peppers, and shredded lettuce, with just a touch of mustard/mayo, and a splash of olive oil and vinegar...on...you guessed it...all on sourdough bread...I just friggin' LOVE sourdough bread, lol.

Down here in the South, we just have sandwiches. What's the difference between a sub and a hoagie? Honestly thought they were the same.

EVERYTHING should contain bologna. No matter what you call it.

My understanding is that a Submarine, Hoagie and Hero sandwich are all the same with some minor regional differences.

Up here in my neck of the Canadian woods they are Subs.

Actually, I believe "hoagie" is just a slang of Submarine Sandwich. That's just a technicality though.

We had a chain in Seattle called Hoagie's Corner, similar to a 7-11..they had a Cheesy British that they warmed up. Oh man. So good.

                          That's EXACTLY what I thought.

And I also agree that nothing should contain bologna. Bleck.

I like bologna sandwiches, but only on sliced white bread, with no cheese, and just a touch of mayo and mustard, simple...that's it.

That was my go to sandwich as a kid, lol.

Fried bologna is pretty good too (flavor changes), served with scrambled eggs on the side, not bad, lol.
