I remember going to the Delaware convention and they were allowing people to purchase 10 figures at $15 a piece I think. These figures were extremely desirable so I bought my allotment of 10 and as I was walking through the convention, dealers were offering me $50 and $60 a piece for any I wanted to sell so I sold 5 of them for around $300, which essentially paid for the figures plus all of my travel costs.
I am unsure that it was a convention piece in my case. (no pun intended) I did not get my from a convention. I am not sure if that made a difference or not. As I pulled all of mine straight from the cases. I do know that I also sold them for a good amount of money at the time as they were real hot pieces and it seemed as if everyone was wanting them at that time. I believe I even sold one for a hundred dollar bill without any effort on my part. It makes me feel good to look at the prices now and look back at what I sold some of them for like Drew Bledsoe Rookie and etc. When I look at it that way I really did not lose any money on them in fact I actually made money while building my collection of extras at the same time. It sounds as if you did alright on yours as well. I don't know about you, but I sure do like opportunities like that. Would like to see more opportunities like those come this way.

What is a Beanie Baby? I did not even know those "things" were still in collector's vocabulary. I knew those "things" were duds right from the get go and I stayed far clear from those. Too many was being massed produced for one thing. I have seen people with basement loads of those "things". I see them at sales often going for .25 to .50 each and people begging/hoping that you will take/buy the whole bag/box so they can get rid of them. It is amazing how the times change. Hot one moment and stone cold the next. I know some people especially those that were big into them and spent a lot of money at the time will argue that there were some good high $$ pieces then. My question to that is yeah, but what are they worth now? Kind of like the SLU's and Spawn stuff that also took a dive.

actually I think ebay's responsible for these losing so much value.I guess a lot of people were buying them, and when ebay came along everyone all over the USA started to list them and the demand wasn't really as high as before.

Now with Spawn,I hate to tell you this bro but it's the same thing

Noooo.... You just had to ruin my one minute of glory didn't you. Spawn was the only thing I had to look forward to and now it is dead too. You just killed the dream! haha Just kidding.... Thanks for the info though. I really kind of figured that to be the case too. I do not know what is was about that toy era as they started out like gang busters and ended up going out like gang members. I can remember getting a pretty decent price for the Angela with the real hair and some others...Ohh well that is a different story. What were we supposed to be talking about here anyway? Ohh yeah that Favre guy retired. That was it.

lol! don't feel too bad I own some Spawn figures myself

and some beanie babies i bought the sports ones, like the Marino's,Elways,Moss,P.Manning and a bunch of wrestling ones...I payed between $5 & $15 for each I still like them though

I remember my mom bought a lot to,but it was mostly the Halloween ones. She just could'nt afford what people were asking for them,so every time I go to a thrift shop I pick her up a few.Now she has a few hundreds and all I've payed is about $.25 a piece
