You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return... -
You did a great thing, showing a creature in need a lot of kindness.
If you hadn't intervened, that cat would have died a slow and painful and lonely death.
The original owner may have kicked the poor thing out, but also possible is that sick and dying animals sometimes wander off to die by themselves. Maybe she got lost, who knows?
It would sicken me to know someone kicked out an oldtimer like this...
The important thing is that she was helped by you, to go out of this world with some dignity.
Good work, my friend..

Anyone that takes in strays is OK in my book. You have a good heart. At least Merrill had someone like you and your family to be around. I've got 3 that I rescued, 1 from in front of my house and 2 that were in the back of the plumbing supply that I work at. They were all kittens when I took them in. Very rare that a fully grown one, and 16 to boot, is as friendly as this one seemed to be. You did right by him...you should be happy and proud of that fact. There's a lot fewer people like that in the world these days."When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
Isn't it a pity".
