A&W is going strong in Canada these days (owned by a different company than the US chain). I love their Chubby Chicken burgers.

I miss Arthur Treacher's and York Steak House. Mom & I still hit Long John Silver's regularly.Leave a comment:

Minute Man hamburgers is a place I remember from my childhood as well as Red Barn, whose location In my hometown is now a bait shop.
I remember when Shoney's Big Boy had a drive in. My brother always liked ordering a Big Girl with nothing on it and then driving off. I don't know of a Shoney's still open in my region.
Dairy Queen's are difficult to find, too.Leave a comment:

Long John silvers has that awesome batter! So unhealthy but delicious. I remember having a birthday party at Showbiz Pizza. I thought it was awesome. The robotic animals struck me as slightly creepy though.Leave a comment:

Has anybody mentioned Little Black Sambo's that turned into Little Sambo's and then just Sambo's? We used to go there when I was a little boy. Their logo was a little black boy with a tiger. Pancake house style place.Last edited by LonnieFisher; Aug 3, '13, 1:31 PM.Leave a comment:

The classic A&W. They went away in my part of Oregon for quite a few years and when they returned is was the name only, different style all together. I remember hardee when I lived in Montana back in the 80s and 90s out here in Oregon they are called Carls Jr.Leave a comment:

Here in Louisiana, Popeye's are like 7 Elevens, they are on every corner (BTW, have you tried the new waffle chicken tenders? They are unbelievable).
We still have a Godfather's here, locally owned, but still uses the GF's recipe.
Who remembers the candy counter at Sear's? It's probably been 25 years since they had one in Sears here. I can still smell the caramel popcorn.
Long John Silver never made it in business here, too many great seafood restaurants to compete with.
I use to love Sambo's and Howard Johnson's.
We still have a Derwinersnitzel (sp?). Are they still abondant?Leave a comment:

Beefsteak Charlies is long gone in NY. Not sure it survived anywhere else in the US. Sizzler Steakhouse is down to 1 location in my county now.Leave a comment:

There's a Denny's in Cullman. LJS use to be there as well but left. I think most people around here figure they have Captain D's,what do they need Long John Silver's for?Yea, Hardees is all over the South. And we have Popeys here too, although I've only actually eaten there once.
I just ate at a Ponderosa in Orlando during MegaCon last March.
Two restaurants we don't have here in town is Long John Silvers and Denny's. We used to have both, but one day they all just left.
I do remember Burger Chef. The building is still standing here but it's an applicance store now.Leave a comment:
