I keep it on 70 all year long, either central air or furnace. We've had a mild summer so far, but the last few days have finally gotten into the upper 80s and low 90s. So now we're sweltering outside. I'm holding off mowing the yard until 7 PM.

Unfortunately, ours is set at 72, but if it were up to me, it would be 50 in our house year round. Once it hits 60, I am hot. At 65, I am sweating like a farm animal. And at 70, I do nothing but lie around like a slug.

Man, You guys are lucky you don't live in Fl. You ran your a/c at those temps in a 2500 sq ft house your electric bill would be 400 + a month.

What A/C? - at one point this year our house was at 89. My wife is pregnant. She was miserable. We're cheap.

A/C is on 70 here, and that's about usual for the summer. Our 2nd story gets quite warm even with fans and exhaust fans installed in the upper level.

No luck about it; you couldn't pay me to live in a place with temps like that! I am impatiently waiting for my wonderful, brisk, refreshing 20 degree Michigan winter days.

In Louisville it gets steaming hot AND humid. I keep the temperature at 70 and our bills during the peak of summer usually run somewhere between 195 to 225 a month depending on whether it cools down at night. Keep in mind we live in a quadlevel house so that air has to circulate alot of space. Some nights it can remain in the upper 80's to low 90's even at 11 PM. But I clean the unit often to keep pollen out and keep the filters changed. We also have fans in all the rooms to circulate the air around. It's comfortable. I like it cool!

                          A/C ?

I don't have one so... It is a 1928 home with a boiler for heat.

Right now with days in the 80's I am doing well with fans, windows, shade (and yes, a dehumidifier).

Will it be OK when it is the 90's? I may have to put the window unit in.

Here in Columbus, I really only used my AC 4 months in my old house and only NEED it 2 or 3 months.

I lived the first 18 years of life without any AC in the house, window, school or car, so I am pretty sure I won't die.

Also put me the "old house" category. We've just got a couple of window units one upstairs and one in the living room which are turned on as needed.
