Between 72 and 74. We've had highs in the low 90s this week. It's 82 at 9 pm right now, but our hot weather is generally July through mid September.

78 to 76. $500 bill? Man, I run my air all summer and my bill is only $150 during the hottest month. I have a small two bedroom house, but $500, wow!

We usually keep it at around 75. Plus a ceiling fan in the bedroom. If I didn't have to worry about electricity bills or a wife and kids, like when I used to live in an apartment, utilities included, in my carefree single days, I'd keep it at 70, I love air conditioning.

Do you live in a town that averages 20+ days over 105 during the Summer? And I would imagine our rates are much higher than yours.

I live in the midwest where last summer during a heat wave temperatures for a month solid were 95+ with humidity--my bill was still no more than $150. I'm assuming rates are higher where you are. I also have a newish air conditioner that's fairly efficient. I couldn't imagine getting a $500 electric bill!

Ours is at 76 but I prefer 74. We have spray foam walls and attic/roof so that helps keep us cool in the Southern summers. Our bill averages about $100-110. The 8 ceilings fans help too.

Speak for yourself, Hector. I keep mine set at 75. Since the main floor of this house is an upper level, and heat rises, it can get pretty hot in here. But I won't turn it on unless it's 78 or higher.

But in both San Francisco and Oakland, not needed, for while it can get hot and sunny, the northern Pacific Ocean breeze keeps things cool.

I sweat essily, and get miserable in hot weather, but I do fine at home during the Summer without an A/C, we have a couple of fans, and my bedroom has a ceiling fan, that's all it's needed.

No wonder I was sweating bullets in your house, it's a lot hotter than mine, I'm on a hill, and are under tons of trees.

You didn't turn your A/C for me, thanks a lot, Sharry, lol.

But no matter how hot it gets here, there's no humidity, plus it's always cold at night.

the first summer we had central air installed, between keeping the temp at 70-72 and running the pool, my electric bill for july and august was like 800.00, i almost had a heart attack. after that year, i keep it at 74. if we have nicer weather like we have the past few days, i turn it off and open the windows

Other than a few errant super hot days, it's actually been pretty dang mild for us. This last month's bill: $85.45!

Mine is set at 60, and the one in my car at 59.

If I could build and wear a Mr. Freeze suit, I would. I cannot take even the slightest heat. Strangely, the cold invigorates me and makes me feel invincible.
