I have not seen any full versions of the Twilight movies.

I have seen like two 7 minute stretches of it on regular TV, was horrified, confused, appalled, and nauseous.

...no offense to any Twilight fans. *sparkles*

Top Gun is one of those movies in time. You had to see it when it came out. Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer were blowing up in the 80's. Trying to watch it 20 years later doesn't work for some movies that much. Same with Dune, loved it in the 80's. Watched it again recently and it was blahh.

I'm scratching my head over the hate for Saw and Top Gun. They're not cinematic breakthroughs or anything, but both seem to be doing exactly what they're suppose to do.

I thought Saw was inventive, demented and a kooky - which is exactly what I'm usually looking for in a horror movie. Part 2 was even nuttier, but I haven't seen any of the others yet.

Top Gun was over the top, loud, mindless fun - with some crazy action scenes - exactly what I want from a summer blockbuster. Plus, as a 13 year old I really appreciated the big sex scene and uh, Kelly McGuillis' performance.

Maybe both get over celebrated too much so it causes a backlash?

And even though I'm a horror fan, I don't waste my time on things like Saw. They're at Saw VI now or something?
    It's 7 now, including the 3D one.

And each one is as mediocre as the last.

So true. How can you take it seriously when you've got a dude that's best known for playing a nerd in it?

    I wish I hadn't bothered.

I can proudly admit I haven't seen top gun either. Nor will I unless I am held captive and forced to. Not begging for my life will be under srong consideration if push comes to shove.

No heat here - but I strongly disagree.

    SPOILERS:
I love all the details of the setting and the characters. I really appreciate all the time they spend on showing Don becoming the head of "the family". The symmetry of Michael's assent in the first movie contrasted with Don's assent in this movie - showing how the motives changed - how Michael's motives (in my opinion) are subtly perverted version of Don's - which leads to the dark outcome. It's fascinating to me. Plus, I love seeing Bruno Kirby as young Clemenza.

Oh man! I don't think you'll be disappointed at all. Parts 1 and 2 are both based on the same book. Part 2 perfectly compliments Part 1 and makes Part 1 even better, by fleshing out more of the background characters and the history of the family. It's not a normal sequel - it really feels like both parts belong together.

Part 3 is the one you should stay far far away from!
