Forgot about those. They would also make my short list and "haven't seen them and don't plan to".

I like the Godfather but I just think it's too long and has too much filler.

If it was a normal hour and a half it would be a lot better

It took me until a year or two ago to finally watch The Godfather. And then it took me three sittings to finish it. I just don't see the appeal. I thought it was slow and disjointed. I never did watch the other two.

I won't argue with any of the movies listed so far except the Bourne series. To anyone who has missed those, I highly recommend a rental. Awesome flicks

My 2 cents on some of what's been mentioned.

Unforgiven - I didn't like too much when I first saw it but it's grown on me with repeated viewings - NOTE: it's not an old time western.

Top Gun - saw it, ok but I can't see me sitting through it again.

Godfather - LOVE IT. 3 isn't anywhere as good as the first 2 but if watching them as a whole it's fine.

Gone With the Wind - Good movie and yes she is annoying but the movie is really worth seeing.

Casablanca - A good movie worth the watch.

Seven Samurai - I saw once and while it's worth a watch I'll never bother watching it again - I'll stick to The Magnificent Seven

Rocky - 1 & 2 are great, 3 & 4 are fun and watchable. I've only seen 5 once and while it was ok I don't stop and watch if I come across it.

Avatar - saw it last fall and liked it more then I thought.

Titanic - see Avatar comment but I wouldn't go to the trouble of watching it again where I would with Avatar.

Transformers - I'm not someone who was ever into the Transformers before so I enjoied what I saw.

Harry Potter - Ok, very watchable. Gets a little dark and muddy in the later films, not as fun as the first couple.

Never saw a Twilight and never will and I don't like Will Ferrell so I don't watch things with him in them.

I never saw One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, so I bought it on VHS at a thrift store the other day. I don't even know why I want to see it. I never saw the LOTR films either. I never saw the cartoon, but it's more interesting to me.

In my mid-teens I took an academic approach to horror films where I wanted to see as many as I can, especially the older stuff. So it's only been in the last 3 years that I've started to buy and watch other stuff. There is still some more later, mainstream Horror I never watched like Lord of Illusion and Jacob's Ladder that I need to see.

A few brief thoughts on some of the films mentioned in the thread...

Rocky - Certainly worth watching. I admit my favourites are III and IV.

Unforgiven - A genuinely good Western, Eastwood and Hackman are great in it.

Reservoir Dogs - Solid flick, but not QT's best work.

Avatar - It's worth a look. The impressive action scenes somewhat make up for the pretentiousness of the piece.

Top Gun - Cool aerial combat scenes. The rest is utter tripe.

Titanic - Abysmal film. Inaccurate and the two leads are annoying.

Pirates of the Caribbean films - Good slices of high entertainment, all of them. Epic ship to ship battles, giant sea monsters, spectral pirates... it's all good.

The Transformers series - First one is worth a look, although the somewhat over-detailed design of the Autobots and Decepticons robs them of much of their individuality. Megan Fox is undeniably hot in the first two.

Seven Samurai - Essential viewing. Watch it, and then immediately after, watch The Magnificent Seven and Battle Beyond the Stars.

The Exorcist - Still a terrifying movie.

The Godfather - Deserves its reputation as a great film. The second one is also great. But part III, not so much.

Most of these I've seen snippets of, but never sought out the entire movie to watch:

    Godfather (all 3 of them)
    Goodfellas
    Casino
    The Exorcist
    Cocktail
    Top Gun
Born on the Fourth of July
    Gone with the Wind
    Casablanca
The Fast and the Furious series
    Any Woody Allen movie
    The Hangover series

I finally got around to watching the entire LOTR trilogy last year with my son, and we liked it so much we saw The Hobbit in theaters. I've unfortunately seen 3 of the five Twilight films because my wife is a big fan of the books. Breaking Dawn Part 1 has to be the worst big-budget film I ever sat through. Just painful on so many levels.

Anchorman. I've tried watching it a couple of times. I'm not knocking it. The movie just hasn't clicked with me yet. Maybe because Ron is not a very likable character and yes, I get, that's the point. I will give it another chance next time I catch it on cable.

As far as some other movies you mentioned, I've also never seen "Unforgiven", "Fast and the Furious" or "Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo"... (that's a break dancing movie or something, right?) I'm on a classic Western movie kick right now, 1940's and 1950's mainly, so Unforgiven has just never grabbed my attention. I love all the Tarrentino stuff you mentioned. We agree on the Kill Bill movies, (to me, Tarrentino's weakest), but I do really like Jackie Brown and the Grindhouse movies....

Never saw "Beaches", Saving Private Ryan, Annie Hall, Terms of Endearment or It's a Wonderful Life either.....
Terms of Endearment I had the misfortune of seeing because my mother and sister dragged me to the theater to see it. Same with Out of Africa. Saw It's A Wonderful Life once when I was bored around Christmas. Haven't been that bored since.
