For me, it's the hunt. Now that I don't collect anything now (sold most of my LSU collection), I just enjoy hitting the garage and estate sales. The dirtier the better. I don't do auctions because it takes away from the hunt. I also don't do it for the money by flipping it. I just use the money as a scale of how well I did. My oldest daughter (9 years old), loves hitting the garage sales with me and that three or four hours every other weekend is our time. We head out about 5:30am, shop for a couple hours, eat some breakfast, and than hit some more for a couple more hours.
My wife and youngest daughter (6 years old) could care less about the sales. Only thing is my youngest ask me to bring her something home.
I have one lady that owns an estate sale company and I use to help her price toys and LSU items. She still calls me at the end of sales, asking if I want to flip something left over worth a lot of money. I usually turn her down because that's not what I do.
I did take her up of some Baccarat and Lalique glasses last week end because I need to make up some money on a saxophone I took a hit on last week.sigpicComment

Right now I'm in that excruciating middle period where I've completed the "hunt" from a member here and waiting every day for the four(!) boxes of "score" to arrive. Actually, the wait is quite painful! I think they call this the DF in screenplay terminology...INEPT VINTAGE WISENHEIMER
