I just buy a new razor (Mach 3) when it's time for new blades. Under $10 for the shaver and one or two replacement cartridges, though I only shave a few times a week.

Ditto for me with all this, except I'm prolly at the month and a half mark instead of 3.

I remember when these razor price spikes first happened, 10+ years ago. It was about the time of Gilette's first Mach razor, and it used to cost like $2.50 for a 4-pack at Walmart. Then all of a sudden, the price went to something like $8 overnite. Very similar to what E2C is reporting...

I use the Dollar General disposible twin blade 12 packs for under 2.50.
They seem to work pretty good to me. I also take a hot shower first before shaving.

What about that one they have on infomercials? The one you use to sharpen your razor blade? Suppose to be able to keep using the same blade over and over.

Founded in July 2011, relaunched in March of 2012. So really about a year old. If you shave with blades you really can't beat their subscription plans.

Dollar Shave Club offers three kinds of membership plans, and members can upgrade or downgrade their plan whenever they like. The Humble Twin costs $1/month for five cartridges (plus $2 shipping), The 4X (a.k.a. Lover's Blade) costs $6/month for four cartridges (including shipping), and The Executive costs $9/month for three cartridges (including shipping). Each plan comes with a free compatible handle.

I just go stubbly - my wife hates when I fully shave anyway. I just use my razors to clean up my neck and cheeks, so one lasts me ages.

I've seen videos of people who claim you can hone a disposable razor and extend the life. Has anyone tried something like this?

If you do any amount of shaving, we don't have to tell you that razor blades are expensive . Consumerist reader Terry shares a simple trick that's he

                    Another technique:

(Again, I have not tried this - and don't know if it works! It seems plausible, but I don't know.)

Doesn't that take a lot of maintenance though? Sharpening, stropping, honing? And of course, learning how to use the thing without carving up your face?

lol, Yea it does take some time on the sharpening technique, and when I starting using one, I still kept a disposable for the trickery parts. But if you do it that way, you will soon find you can shave your whole face without a problem at all and you never have a closer shave.

I go with the unshaven look and have an electric Razor to keep it that way.......I will never pay 20 bucks for Razors. I'd rather adopt the ZZ Top look before I ever do that....lol

La la la, I'm Just casually strolling through the non-mego threads and ...holy cow! I always wondered where all the high post veterans are and they are all HERE on this shaving thread! The average post count on this thread is like 14,000! Wowzers. How can I mine this data?
I think next time I post stuff on Mego Marketplace i will also feature quality blade accessories as traffic bait...
Hmmm... no comments from Nayrbgo. He must have a beard.

Most of the time, I just trim my goatee and extra trim the surrounding areas, I only do a straight razor shave around my goatee once a week, so the sharpness of my razors last a loooooong time.
