Good for you man! Too many times this stuff happens and nobody stands up...well you stood tall!

BTW, you didn't see that guy from ABC-TV who does the show about situations like that did you?

That's the first question that popped into my head as well.

Kudos to you, though, for "Random Axe" of kindness!

Exactly. What was going on with him the rest of the day? Out wandering the streets unsupervised? Poor guy could get mugged or something.

You're a good man Scott. And it's so true. Today's young adults are three quarters clueless. No sense of accountability whatsoever. Glad we had someone representative from our generation to straighten that situation out.

I just thought this article would give the human race, a little defense.

There is good in the world, you just have to squint a little harder to see it. I have a mentally retarded Uncle (sorry I don't even know what the PC term is now-developmentally disabled? Too vague for me) and he is in his 60s now, works at ARC, and in an awesome state group home in PA. Of course most of these smaller group homes in a single family domicile have been cut by state budgets years ago so my Uncle and my family are lucky he is so well cared for. I couldn't imagine him being left alone for hours like that.
There is so much in that initial thread starter I could talk about. How restaurants are run and do hiring. The lack of qualified applicants for said job even in a high unemployment recession. Members ICU horror stories. Your kind and decent act. Too much.

Two things I wish to add. If you are a loving, kind person who wants a better world, strive to be a good parent, Uncle, Aunt, or some mentor to a child, any child.
But it is hard. I know someone close to me who teaches in a low income school where the majority of students receive free or reduced breakafst and lunch. I volunteer often in said school. The majority of these poor and emotionally neglected kids all have either flat screens in their private bedrooms or I Pads. Their own personal IPADS! I know, weird. And sad and stupid.
