They were breaking the law. They have to provide treatment to the point of stabilization in an Emergency room no matter your ability to pay. Wish you got their names.

That's exactly what I thought. Hospitals cannot, under any circumstance, decide who to treat based on abillity to pay. They are insured for such things. It's posted in every ER in America. You might have a lawsuit on your hands.

I just have problems fathoming how far our values and perspectives as a society have deteriorated. Today is just a small example of our lack of ethics and compassion. Darryl(or Dale, I couldn't understand him) was a victim twice today of poor societal morals. I doubt my e-mail will do anything since I didn't get his full name, but I felt a need to point out an egregious error in judgement. I'll also write BWW and let them know about what happened. I've worked in the corporate retail/restraunt industry for a long, long time and I'm sure word will get around about this within the company.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

I wonder if some less scrupulous Doctors and nurses take advantage of some ER patients who are unaware of the law and pocket the money.

Co-pays are not to be used for a patient who's bad off enough to be admitted into ICU. So, if you didn't have the money or were unconscious they would send you on your way? That's something the hospital bills you for later. The ONLY thing they should be focused on is your health and recovery. As someone who has spent, collectively, over a year in various hospitals with my wife, I know this as fact. You, my friend, got jobbed.

                      Scott,

Thanks for your kindness and generosity. Hopefully the manager and waiter will gain some empathy from your example.

All I did, which any of us would, was the right thing. This new generation needs to be taught how surprisingly easy it is.

It's the kids from 90's. Honestly, my wife and I have dealt with them a lot over the past several years. You see a marked difference in the 70's and Reagan kids from the 90's. Reagan kids were crazy optimisitc but willing to work, except this economy has crushed a lot of that. The 90's kids....wow. Navel gazers with horrendous fundamentals. We hear it from college profs and teachers all the time. They always start the same way "I know I'm getting older, but this current generation..."

The level of disposability just exploded in the 90s - CD's, VHS, toys, clothes, communication - so they have no concept of base values. IMO, that's how we differ so much from the current generation.

Random Axe you have a flurry of good Karma points heading your way

In relation to the kids today, the real difference is the amount of technological dependency they now have which gives in more to the greedy, self centered, selfishness most of us are seeing in them. Another reason why they seem to all have ADD. Everything has to be in terms of "now" and immediate (thanks to technology providing most of that), their attention spans are shot to ****
