Maybe the Muppet fans around here know about this guy:
I saw this Rowlf puppet at a flea market today and thought it might be a fisher price item from the late 70s, like most of the vintage muppet puppets are....
When I saw the Ideal tag I was confused--I had no idea that Ideal had made Muppet puppets--had never even heard of an Ideal muppet toy. Well as it turns out, this guy is from 1965! He represents the very earliest of Muppet merchandise (pre sesame street, pre muppet show). Fairly scare toy, actually....he set me back $26......
Sheesh, that is a heck of a find. I was looking into the Ideal Muppet toys and this piece has to be so rare. It would be interesting to have an idea of how well this Ideal Muppet line sold and how much of it still exists (in any condition). Your Rowlf looks like he is in beautiful shape.

yeah I love it. They had a $10 sticker price on it and a lady saw me looking at it and said, if you'll take it you can have it for $5. Shoot I would have been happy to pay the $10 all day long!Leave a comment:
