As holiday movies go, I LOVE Scrooged with Bill Murray and Jack Frost with Michael Keaton. The rest are the animated features:
No offense Tom, but I think you're the only person I've ever met who said they loved Keaton's Jack Frost. I don't think it's as bad as some made it out to be, but it's just...odd. But I like a lot of odd things, so I can't say much!

As we get older there are so many christmas films but here are the "classics" for our house

Like other I have to watch Miracle on 34th St (the orginal one) and I prefer to wathc it Thaknsgving night too as a "topper" to the macys parade
SCrooge - 70 musical version a great film but the extended trip to Hell is a slow point. Alec Guiness is great as Marley too "Thanks you very much" is a great # ...why because I like life
Charlie Brown christmas- it isn't the season witout it
        Holiday inn
The Joy of Christmas - it's a 20 minute marionet short when I was a kid it always played on christmas nitght on PBS, Santa delivering toys
        Die Hard
Year without a Santa Clause - my favorite of the rankin bass specials
Emite otter - love it since it first aired on HBO in the early 80's a great version of the gift of the Magi
A Christmas Story - while set in the late 40's it wasn't that different from the christmas's of the 70's

there are so many others that evoke the season well, some mentioned the Shop around the corner - which is very good, also good is the Bishop's wife with David Niven and Cary Grant. Like the peanute it makes a point to remind the viewer what is really important about the season

Oh I understand. No offense taken. It's very modest in its efforts to sell the "effect" of a talking snowman. But my daughter fell in love with it when I took her to see it in the theaters. She was very young then and it was one of those few times when dad got a solo event with his little girl. So it was our little night out at the movies. It's remained "our movie" ever since.

That's sweet, and as someone with a little girl of his own, I completely understand!

                Say;

No love for the "Blackadder Christmas Carol?" That's one of my faves. I love the Christmas episode of "Norm" as well.

....and that animated Christmas Carol scared the horque out of me when I was a kid.

There's an oldie that I remember seeing once WAY back in the 70's and never again. It portrayed Santa as a type of elemental spirit, and it featured a meeting of primordial beings seeking his replacement. Can't remember the name, or too much about it except it was animated. (I thought of that after seeing the preview for the new film where Santa teams up with the Easter Bunny to kick a lot of ***....)

I think that's "The Life and Times of Santa Claus" based on the L. Frank Baum book. I think that was the last of the Rankin Bass "Animagic" specials, if I recall. From the mid-80s, I believe.

Warner's DVD on demand service has life and adventures of Santa Claus if anyone wants it. The disc also has Nestor the Christmas donkey on it.

Ploog did a graphic novel adaption of Baum's book in the 90s which is really gorgeous.
