    What's your favorite Christmas movie/special?

In keeping with the season, what's your favorite Christmas movie or special and why?

I've loved them since I was a kid, just like mego figures and comics, everything from the numerous adaptations of "A Christmas Carol," the classics of the 1940s, the Rankin Bass stop-motion specials, the more recent classics like "A Christmas Story" and "Christmas Vacation" to "Bad Santa" and "Harold and Kumar's Christmas movie.

So which one's are your favorites and why?

"Holiday Inn" is my favorite. It stars Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire and is an excellent comedy showcasing too of the most talented entertainers of the 40s and the outstanding songs of Irving Berlin. It featured the debut of "White Christmas" and "Easter Parade." If you like old movies and the holidays and haven't seen it, give it a try.

A Christmas story is on a constant loop at our house. My seven year old can quote it like a champ!

Color me tasteless, but I really love Scrooged with Bill Murray. Even though I find him to be an annoyingly disengenuous actor, that movie and that portrayal of a Christmas Carol is my favorite.

Oh, that's terrific you got censored for writing that. I understand why it's not allowed here but it's still funny that we can't watch films from National Lam****, we can't eat our soup with a s**** and cannot talk about movies from Reese Withers**** nor listen to the music of Loving S****ful.

And yeah thanks for reminding me about Christmas Vacation. That is right up there with any X-Mas classic.

"A Christmas Story" is a modern classic. It's become one of those films that people of all ages all over the country relate to. IncidentallyPeter Billingsley, who played Ralphie, is one of the producer's on the Iron-Man films and had a small role in "Elf."

Jimmy Stewart's other Christmas movie "The Shop Around the Corner" is excellent, too. What better place to set a Christmas movie than a department story. "In the Good Ole Summertime" with Judy Garland and Van Johnson and "You've Got Mail" with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan are worthy remakes, but aren't as Christmassy.

Really love Heat and Cold Miser from "The Year Without a Santa Claus" and being from the south, the plot to the show always stood out to me. I've never actually experienced a white Christmas.

I watched Saturday Night Live Christmas special the other night. It was a compilation of Christmas skits over the years and it was hilarious. Everything from Martha Stewart's topless Christmas special and Schweddy Balls to Steve Martin's Christmas Wish and Samberg and Timberlake's "Blank in a Box"

Is p**n even any kind of common vulgar slang these days?

I used to be a big fan of Christmas Story but it's been so overplayed at this point, I'm just sick of it. I'm a diehard Peanuts fan, so I always have a soft spot for A Charlie Brown Christmas, and although it may be more of a Halloween/Christmas crossover, I still love The Nightmare Before Christmas.

You might guess which movie I'm fond of (theme song by Milton DeLugg & his band with a thug!)...

but as a kid, it wasn't Christmastime until they played this short bit, usually at 5:55 just before the news every weekday in December, rotated with Frosty & Suzy Snowflake ...and yes, just the three of them, it played a couple times a week. This was my favorite. animation by Art Clokey (Gumby creator). Links to Frosty & Suzy videos come up at the end of the video.
