>I don't think kids today are going to by/buy this
>Today's kids never experienced stuff like that...
I'd disagree on this one. There's ALWAYS been someone out there to be scared of. Sure, N. Korea isn't as good a baddie as old school Russia, but they've served the role of "evil empire" for a while now. Remember the "Type-0 Dong" threat?
*snicker* Type-0 Dong.... Anyhoo; it's not about the invaders. It's about how awesome it is that the kids are kickin' schmenge.... "just like me and MY friends would if anyone attacked the school! And I'd get a machine gun, and rocket launcer, and grenades...." That was the appeal of the original too.
>at least in the original they let you know there was a small nuclear exchange (and evidently effective) first before the mass invasion
Holee smokes! You're the first person I've ever met who defended the plausibility of the film. Neat! Still; even the nuke idea has a lot of implausibilities. Overall the original was all about the fight scenes; the plot was superfluous. Just like this one. I don't think.... overall.... the new one will be any better or worse, except that we're not all 14 any more and I think that's the biggest mitigating factor for enjoying something like this.
>The premise only works with Canada as the baddie.
He knows! How did he discover "Plan eh?"
