I missed the finally, apparently it aired at 12. Stupid, you would think it would be aired at 10 next week. I wanted to see the guys collection of 12 inch figures. I have seen pics of his collection in the past, and it might be the nicest in the world. He has all the hot toys, as well as the expensive customs by Kojun, Rainman, and Beto.

I guess there were two episodes on last night. Gonna watch the other one on OnDemand.Comment

Pretty great commercial for Bif Bang Pow! toys this week.
This episode was great for looking at two nice collections but it didn't seem much got accomplished. The robot guy seemed to be just playing along and I thought the BSG guy was using the show to promote his store (which is pretty smart).
I also thought that story would end with: "Mike and Carol can't get Richard Hatch to leave"Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

I continue to like this show. It's your basic "reality" show with manufactured drama, but at least you get to see some cool stuff. The robot collection was amazing. And there was what amounted to a great ad for EMCE stuff, too. Good for them.
The one guy with the Hanna Barbara stuff was just plain creepy. I thought he was going to go after the psychiatrist with an ax. Some serious mother issues there.
And it was nice of Richard Hatch to be on the show, but doesn't he have anything better to do than look at some guys BSG stuff? And Brian makes a good point. I thought it was going to set up residence in the garage in exchange for the script.Comment

I hate the manufactured drama with calling in shrinks and what not. None of those people need help and everyone of them is on this show because they want to be and most if not all are on there with some hidden agenda to promote themselves.Comment

Other then the first episode, which I watched online, I can't seem to find this show on SYFYHD (via Direct TV) using a search nor by looking through the guide. I wanted to set up a season pass and tape it on our DVR but I can't find it??????

It's fun to see all those vintage toys on TV, but I hate all the manufactured drama. I just read an article about this on bleeding cool, apparently they lied to the Godzilla collector on one of the latest episodes, and told him it was a show called "Master Collectors," and then when he finally saw it on TV they had edited it together to make it look like he had a problem.Comment
-
Yeah, I've heard they switched the show up on the participants. I actually remember seeing the call for "master collectors" online, it may have even been on here. The narration with the guy explaining the "problems" of the obsessive collectors is so obviously added on to make it look like these people have a serious problem. It doesn't really fit with what they actually do on the episodes. They have seemed to move away from the "we need to get rid of all this stuff" to more of a "we need to itemize and organize this stuff." They should have just stuck with the Master Collectors idea, and it would have been much more appealing.
I've now seen two people I "know" on the show. Brian Flynn from Super7 and Tom Franck, Master Jumbo collector. Pretty cool. The robot guy knows his stuff and is a dealer at a lot of toy shows, so he knows what those pieces are worth. Kinda weird to have Tom on there, but he knows his stuff as well.Comment

BTW, that guy with all the Godzilla and 12" stuff had some nice Megos too!Comment

Loved seeing that Japanese robot collection, and Tom Franck was a bonus. Extra points for Elyse actually pronouncing "Popy" correctly (ie. not "poppy"), minus points for the robot guy pronouncing Mazinger as "Manzinger"...what the???Comment

Yeah, that makes another toy manufacturer's name I've always mispronounced. Oops.Comment

I don't buy that these people are simply victims of editing and slick TV producers. The conversations they are having with her seem on the up and up to me. They may have been attracted to the show to begin with because the name and focus were originally Master Collectors, but their spouses seem genuinely distressed and fed up and the houses are consistently ridiculous messes. Marlo the comic book guy said straight up he took a crappy nurse job and neglected his ambitions to stay at home and "model bash" and he was moved to get the Wacom tablet and software. And jet lag is one thing, but his wife was seriously sick of his crap.
Ugh. Watching that last night with my wife after an afternoon of doing my own "model bashing" was an unpleasant experience. Time to log off the Museum and hit LinkedIn some more.
Still...Bringing the psychologist in is a really dirty move though. Having that creep sit in the middle of my toy collection and interview me would make me look deranged and creepy, too. Photographing any middle aged dude fiddling with his toys while sitting on the floor of his toy shrine like a giant overgrown mopey child is pretty unfair. This profile is no longer active.Comment

Yeah, I watched that Marlo guy's piece and thought "how was he hoodwinked?" and then later "I want that Godzilla"!
Also, I felt Flinstones guy was made out to be a unhealthier than he really was. He seemed to want to share his stuff, to give it meaning. The therapist on this show seems to be baiting a lot of these people. I'd be snappy and rude to that guy too.
I think this show is going to have a hard time finding interesting collectors for a second season.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions
