For me it was Metallica and Queensryche in Buffalo back in 1988. My ears were still ringing three days after the concert, I thought I had done some permanent damage, but I think I'm ok now.

April 27, 2009 WAMU theatre for My Bloody Valentine.
So loud you have to wear the provided earplugs that are handed out in order to listen.
The last song of the set is called "You Made Me Realise" which was extended by 15 minutes of sheer apocalyptic wall of sonic sound that was literally skull vibrating. Many people had to leave due to feeling sick. Basically the band uses the acoustical vibrations from the venue as an instrument to help the listener feel engulfed in the wall of sound. It works but if you don't have the earplugs you will certainly regret it permanently. Never experienced anything like that nor will I ever will again.
Yes, the building and floor did shake. It was measured to be over 130 dBs and my skull was really shaking.Comment

The Who was pretty loud. Townsend is just an amazing guitarist. Offspring was pretty loud too. For the next couple days after that show I could not even listen to a song by Offspring at any volume becasue it made my ears ring all over again.View My Customs
