I've seen a few of these types including my son...he does thing with memorizing movie lines thats kinda extraordinary...but in the same token he autistic...

Not saying I believe in your average tarot reader/palm reader/etc...but just as there are athletes with exceptional abilities that appear in say the Olympics or on one your favorite NBA/NFL/Etc teams...Why can't there be people with these kind of traits but in more of a mental direction...Think Mozart/Einstein/Poe etc...

Edit - Not trying to make it sound like my little guys in anywhere in that realm...Well at least not yet...but you never know

      "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn"

In the Southeast Pacific, lies the sunken city of R'Leyh. There lies C'thulhu waits to return to our world with the other Great Old Ones. A hideous creature of enormous size and alien power, it waits for it's time to return patiently. For it has all the time in the world while it waits for the stars.

I'm not totally convinced it exists but don't discount the idea either.
Just to get nit-picky for a second - there are explanations to explain savant abilities, but as far as I know there's no one widely accepted theory yet.

Also, the difference is that savant abilities are hyperextended versions of stuff average brains can do. It is incredible and totally fascinating though.

If anything I think the obsession with ESP or psychic ability is kind of a downer, because the human brain is pretty remarkable, complex and fascinating without it.

I guess I am taking psychic down to its basic definition as something outside of natural or scientific knowledge which I say is possible just as much as the existence of aliens are possible; there just isn't any scientific proof one way or the other.

            Maybe unlikey, but possible.
