    Aw, man...really sad news.

I like the Monkees and grew up with that episode of the Brady Bunch near and dear to my heart.

It will be depressing in the next few years as so many of the great 1960's icons pass away.

I really liked the monkees show back when I was a kid (use to watch it in reruns in the mid eighties).
          Bye Mr. Jones.

I was so taken back to hear this today. RIP Davy.

My kids watched a Spongebob episode where he made a brief cameo (a character gets trapped in Davy Jones Locker) and I had to explain to my 6 & 9 year old who he was and I thought to myself that I'll have to show them some of the Monkees shows. Still need to do that.
            It's all good!

Man, what a shocker...he was so tiny.

I wonder if he was a heavy chain smoker or something?

I dig the Monkees...and despite what the critics said about that "manufactured" group...Jones was a great singer.

                Very sad...RIP.

Davy lived (part of the year) about ten miles from me...I occasionally would see him out at the grocery store or mall shopping. People would say hi or wave, he was pretty friendly. He did quite a few local shows around the area, but sadly none I ever managed to attend.

However, a couple Christmas Eves back, I was going into WalMart and literally walked right into him just inside the front door. I apologized and he said, "No problem, Merry Christmas!". I didn't even realize who he was until he'd gone past & left. So I sent him a Christmas card & a letter to his PO box in town, and a couple days later he sent me a signed photo.

BTW, if you get Antenna TV they are going to run a Monkees Marathon this weekend of all 58 episodes.

When I think of the Monkees it brings back good memories. Davy and Mickey were my favorites. Sad, sad news indeed. Goodbye Mr. Jones and RIP.

I was at the courthouse yesterday serving my six month, bi-weekly stint on the grand jury. When I called Maggy at lunch she told me he had died. I was very saddened to hear that as I have always been a fan of the Monkees and even collect a few related items.
