I've never been a fan of Whitney's music, despite recognizing her incredible talent; still, this really bothers me. She left her kids far, far too early. Tragic, to put it mildly and real blindsiding. I knew she had issues, but geez--I wish things would have been better for her.
According wiki: Dionne Warwick's cousin was the late singer Whitney Houston, and her aunt is Gospel-trained vocalist Cissy Houston, Whitney's mother.

Very tragic...I was never a huge fan, but she had an incredible voice once and maybe could have come back to it again with the proper help. Sad to see.

Somehow I went through this whole day today without hearing that this had happened. Heard on the radio about an hour ago. Very sad. RIP.

What a sad day. Listening to her songs this morning and seeing a tribute to her on the Today Show brought back memories of what a one-of-a-kind singer she was. When I was in college, I rememeber how amazingly cute she was. I'll miss her.

(Hopefully steer this back on track...)

The first "real" concert I ever saw was as a young kid there was a 4th of July concert at Tampa Stadium. Several acts performed, but Whitney Houston was one of the headliners. I was so excited about it! My music taste has changed considerably since then, but there is no denying that she was an amazing singer. What a shame.

Well, it hasn't quite degraded to the level that Botzwana brought it down to, so there is that.

Howzabout we all play nice and just agree that WH's passing was an unfortunate tragedy and leave personal feelings out of the equation.

Condolences go out to Ms. Houston's daughter and family as well as her legion of fans and proteges. There are likely many singers today who might not be singing had they not heard Whitney Houston blaring from their radios in the 80s and 90s.

No it`s not, I moderate these boards by signing on you agreed to our rules and regulations which are simple, fair and rarely enforced. Your posting as of late seems to be of a confrontational nature and we have had complaints. I have asked you to stop, that is all.

One last time, censorship and freedom of speech don`t fly in a house where YOU AGREE to our rules and regulations. This is a moderated forum, if we disagree on our rules, we remove your right to post here.

It is not a difficult thing, so I am not sure what you are hoping to accomplish here.

Even after hearing this last night, it still hasnt really sunk in yet. I'll be the first to admit that I am more of a pop and rock fan but shes still a big discovery from the '80s and a big part of it. (I think "I wanna dance with somebody" is great of course) Her songs were being played at many parties I went to during my school years and that makes her a part of what Im fond of.
We all make some bad choices in life (some bigger than others) and I think she was really trying to overcome them. Addiction is a horrible thing. It goes after rich or poor. Famous or the average person. I hope she is remembered for the good things about her. What a talent that left us to soon!
