Surreal postal nightmare! I'm out $90.00!

    Here's a story I couldn't make up if I wanted to!
Waiting for my latest goodies (camera+extras.) It had only been since Saturday it was shipped, but I hadn't received it yet, so I ask the seller for a del. con. #.
He supplies it and shows delivered Monday!
I use a po box for all my mail.
I call them and give them the con # and they check around, look in open lockers, and NADA!
They take my info and said if whoever got is kind enough to return it...???

Crying my eyes out, then it turns to frustration. What the .... do I do now??
I'm going down there tomorrow and see if I can file something on them.
They said any claim would be denied, as it shows delivered.
Still gonna TRY to do something.

This is not the fault of the seller! He did everything right.

    I dunno now....

    Thanks for listening, T

That's terrible, Theressa. I hope your camera and equipment will surface for you soon. Are there any suspicious types that work in your post office...?
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Not really. Couple that don't seem to know post office stuff, mistakes and such!
I'm real curious as to who checked that truck in and marked my mail as delivered and where it went! Going to try to find out.
I've already alerted a hock shop nearby too.

Have you checked all the details of the delivery confirmation? Scans can be missed. Also, its possible that a scan somewhere along the way was entered incorrectly. After the scan is entered, then they have to manually choose a number corresponding to what they are entering. I can't recall exactly, but its something like hit 3 for deleivered, and hit 4 for arrival or 5 for departure. If they hit the wrong number it could appear as delivered. What other stops are shown on the delivery confirmation "trail". When was it entered as received, did it go to a sorting facility? Did it reach your local sorting facility? Did it get scanned as received by your post office? Any of the along the way scans should help you. Also, where was it coming from and what type of service was used. Saturday to Monday doesn't seem likely these days without a close proximity and priority. If they used Parcel post or even first class it might still be on its way and possibly, as mentioned above, scanned incorrectly.

The other thing I can think would depend on the actual boxes at your office (size). If it was something that could fit in your box (or another), and they simply put it in the wrong one by mistake, then it is probably a lost cause due to their error. And that sucks. The only way to really combat that is to get a small letter size box forcing them to leave you a slip for all packages and having to go to the counter each time to get it. Extra hassle but less chance of losing a package.

Had something similar happen at my po. They put the notice in the wrong box so that person picked up the package and took it. The guy at the counter said, "Well, you have so many names on your box we can't keep track of them all." I countered with, "Regardless of the names [me, my wife, daughter and business name, which they required that I do] who else but me has EVER picked up my mail??" It was my fault somehow. Whoever left with the package never returned it. It was only make-up my wife had ordered, and the store was kind enough to send more, but the po's attitude is what ticked me off. Trust me I called and complained and when I described the clerk they were not surprised.

I have a small one. Any items bigger than a few envelopes get a notification card for pick up OR said item get put in a locker and they put the key to that locker in the po box.

They asked who had access to our box. I said me, my S/O, and you people at the PO!

All those scans look correct. So the mistake was definitely made in your local PO. Depending on how you get packages, whether they can fit in your box or you get a slip, they should have cameras and clearly the scan is listed as 10:07. They should be able to check the video if someone picked it up at the counter. Also, normally with those scanners, I believe they can be tracked and as to what scanner made the scan and most employees are assigned a specific scanner. I'm not sure its gonna work out well, but they should be going a little further to help you.

Edit: It seems more than likely the slip was put in the wrong box (unless it was in the locker with the key) and was picked up by another person. The assigned scanner would be for the people in the back, but this was likely scanned at the counter as delivered, though that should place it at a specific register. Whether they will check video for you is not something I would bank on unfortunately.

We've had this box down there for over 10 years and never had this happen before!
They got some real winners working there right now, as I mentioned before.
