How can the post office not be at fault here? If your signature isn't on the slip or in their system, they are responsible and need to make good on it. What kind of camera was it?

It really ticks me off to hear about this. I had this happen during the holiday. My package ended up being delivered to a neighbor and the scum opened, and kept my item. I was only able to get it back when my carrier remembered mis-delivering it, and got it back.
What really made me angry was how the post office tried to deny any responsibility. They came up with every excuse in the book to cover their backside. As far as they are concerned, they can do no wrong. Is there a box around there that has the same numbers? Maybe they reversed a couple of digits. I wish you the best of luck and hope that you recover the camera in the end.Comment

Unfortunately even if they put the notice slip in the wrong box that doesn't explain the loss, someone still has to hand out the package. In my PO if a package isn't picked up the first day they will put another notice in your box, so even if they got it wrong the first time they will try again. If your package could fit in a PO box then it might have been put in the wrong one or if the PO has route delivery it could have been delivered to the wrong place - or someone at the PO took it. I hope things work out for you but it doesn't sound good.Comment

Here's what I found out.
No security cameras there, said its illegal.
Fella I do most of my dealings with is doing steps to help.
He's checking the lockers and marking them off when they get opened.
Says he checked individuals po boxes for keys to the lockers then checked lockers.
Some of the keys are not there. Said people must have taken them home.
Now why would people do that?? When all they would have to do is turn around and open that locker!
Says they can't open those lockers without the key. Un huh. I'm sure at one time I seen the whole thing open, either the front or backside when they redid the lobby.
Telling me all I can do is hope that whoever got it is honest enough to return it!
Scott, if you check my feedback the item is there.
I am going to try again for another one.
I'm pretty much losing hope on this one.
Gonna have to try to recoup my loss. Its not much but it really stings.Wants, original parts; thinking...

And the post office wonders why it is losing so much money. I'm lucky enough to have a good friend working at mine. I have even had stuff so badly miss addressed there was no way it could get to me but she could see the name and still put it into my box. We talk all the time about the ***** clowns they seem to hire and how stupid some are. I hope you get the camera.Comment

I had some thing similar happen to me. My package was delivered to someone else. About two months later they dropped it off at my door unopened and with a note. They were honest but lazy. Don't give up hope.

T i don't think you sound petty at all. We all work hard for our money. The post office needs to be held accountable. And if they have a thief working they need to find out what happened. It is inexcusable for them to just say oh well it was delivered. Like you said earlier, you have been there 10 years so someone can account for your honesty. I would continue to stay on them till something is answered.Comment

Waaahoo!!
Update!!
I was told Sat that Monday, someone was gonna open all the lockers. Then that became Tue. It never happened.
In the meantime, the one fella I deal with a lot, was checking off lockers on a slip of paper as they become open by people getting the packages.
I do commend him for at least doing something!
I had waited until Tuesday and no word from anyone on my complaint!
Called my po, phone was busy for over an hour. Called the 800, system was down. About ready to scream, but no one was listening.
Made another call and was given a number to Consumer Affairs. After some phone tag, I talked to the person I needed to. They couldn't get a call thru either, still busy. So they sent them an email!! OMG, after all this, only to have an email sent to call me!
Well, I tried OIG, missed live operators time. So call back Wed.
So Wed I call the po just to check and talked to the fella at the counter.
Package was RECOVERED by the honest person that took it to the counter, because it wasn't hers!!
Turns out they put the key 3 boxes below mine.
So, in reality, the po and complaint hotlines, did zilch!!
I did get that call from the postmaster after all was said and done
Apologies, yadda, yadda.
Figuring I'd never see this camera, I won another and it's on the way.
So, as long as that one arrives, I'll have my share of Canon G5's!
One of them might be a B-Day present for the S/O, but it might be too much camera. We'll see.....
Happy ending...for the most part!
Thanks everyone for listeningWants, original parts; thinking...
