I have a helluva lot of cassettes lying around. Does anyone want them? I'll send you a list and you can have them if you pay postage. I have like 2 small boxes worth. I hate to throw them out.

You know, back when Mercyful Fate Released "Melissa" in the early 80s there was some foreign tour manager phone number on there and I know a guy who called the number and actually talked to King Diamond. This was way before anyone had any clue who he was. Some of the later prints of "Melissa" didn't have the tour manager number on it as the band became popular.
Some of the original prints of "Melissa" with the tour manager/booking agent numbers on there is an indication that it is the earliest incarnation of the release.
This has nothing to do with the topic but I wanted to comment this for Spawn67....
Mercyful Fate had to reunite to re-record the song "EVIL" because the record company they used back then wouldn't give them the rights to their original tapes. They re-recorded the song for a Metallica "Guitar Hero" section where you can activate an animated King Diamond. I have never seen the game or have I ever played "Guitar Hero" but I thought it was interesting that Mercyful Fate did that.More custom Mego madness on Facebook right here...

I had a huge box full of them that I finally just threw away while we were moving a few years ago. I kinda wish I had at least cherry picked through it a bit, I'm pretty sure there a few rare tapes in the box.

I never can seem to buy a car with a cd player so i still use cassettes, i was playing Debbie Gibsons first 2 albums whenever x-mas music comes on the radio just yesterday."Hang on Lady... We go for a RIDE!" - Shorty to Willie Scott.Best movie line from Indiana Jones & the Temple Of DoomComment

I never really cared for the cassette... I was pretty much exclusively vinyl until the switch to CDs...Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

Oddly, I rarely play the vinyls (even though I have a record player). I just love the look and feel of the record and the art work offers way more then the CD packaging that I need my glasses to sometimes see the things.
Most of the time I usually just make a copy of my CD and slide it inside the album packaging. That way if I want to play a certain vinyl there is a CD in there also and I can admire the artwork while rocking out to the recording and I won't risk scratching the vinyl any further. I guess I'm bizarre when it comes to that. Really picky about vinyl quality in my collection. Probably doesn't matter and I'll be dead before they are worth ****.
My daughter and I spent a fun day copying and burning CDs to go with the records. The vinyl and the CDs are between paper so they don't touch and you can barely notice they are inside the LP cases.Last edited by Cosmicman; Dec 6, '11, 11:55 AM.More custom Mego madness on Facebook right here...

I have also cherry picked through my old cassettes and held onto a handful of them (usually old tape mixes I put together). I rarely listen to them but don't have the heart to pitch them. I also have kept my vinyls. Again, I don't really play them but have picked a few of my favorite, found frames at A.C. more to frame the nicer looking album covers and hang them on the wall."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

I to have a lot of cassette tapes still from my teenage years. Some that have became scarce over the years and even increased in value to my surprise.
Who would have ever thought that the band Killer Dwarf's - Stand Tall would have ever been worth anything today.
I mainly kept them all these years because I like the covers and I listened to most of them growing up. I have even found myself buying some every now and then in a thrift store find just for the hell of it. I really do not listen to them at all any more every since the CD revelation took over. I have most of them all digitally transferred or on CD and or on my PC.
I collect a little bit of everything when I go to thrift stores. Since I rarely find Mego's in the wild I figure I gotta blow my money on something.Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. (C) Azrak 2009
