I've been converting my collection to digital forever. EVery so often I get a few transferred to my desktop set up then stop for a couple weeks. At this rate its gonna take me forever to transfer all the cassettes I own.

I had a hard time getting rid of the cassettes that I purchased growing up. My CD collection started in the mid 90s around the time Paul McCartney released "Off The Ground". Reason I know that was because it was the first CD I bought.

When we bought our first CD burner and had it installed on my tower, that really was the official end of recording/playing with cassettes.

I remember giving my cassettes away to this drunk mutual friend of ours who drives around in a pickup truck and kept his cassette player in his truck and he was always "Dang proud to have that in" his truck.

I still have probably about 20 left out of a collection of over one-thousand. It was a major pain in the *** replacing them all on CD but I did it. I would not give the cassette away unless I had a CD version of it.

There are people out there that still use analog (tape recordings studios) over digital modern sounds. People are stuck in their ways but I cannot see for the life of me why anyone would want a cassette.

I found a King Diamond (Fatal Portrait) cassette tape in a box of stuff the other day. I put it in the tape player on my stereo system just for fun. It still played and the only thing weird I noticed was the wishy washy sounds of the volume going in an out on small parts of the cassette but other then that it still rocked. I wound up taking the cassette out and putting the CD in because it drove me crazy but put me in the mood for that album.

I have Mercyful Fates "The Beginning" on tape that I have had since 88 and it sounds perfect!

Ive thrown most of mine away...have a few here and there...but we have no cassette player. Quite useless without a player.

I have a cassette player in the truck so I have a pretty good selection for the road. I also started finding some very interesting selections at a local thrift store that we frequent, nd at 25 cents a piece you can't go wrong since I either a.) never heard of something and thought I'd give it a listen or b.) I come across one I had years ago and am too cheap to buy a new cd or download copy... it's easy enough to transfer and burn them for a fraction of the cost.

One of the more recent finds was a Milli Vanilli cassette that I would never have bought back then and wouldn't pay more tahn a quarter for now, but honestly it's been kinda fun popping it in just for a quick trip back in time when those tunes were in the top 40. Mind you I turn off that particular highway pretty quick. But then there is Prince's Purple Rain... I loved and still love that album, regardless of it being analog or digital.
