Only thing, players would eat 8-tracks way more often than cassettes

That has to be the worst part. I traded a friend some KISS 8 tracks for some KISS records a while back. I know that from a collector's perppective that the 8 tracks would more than likely be worth more than the records in the long term, but I also figured that they have to last and hold up to be worth anything. Even if one does not play them they still can be very fragile like glass.

I cant imagine collecting 8 tracks now unless they are to just look at. I wonder what the life span of the tape inside is? I would imagine it will eventually crumble to dirt or dust.
