You guys are making me feel old... Some of these toys are what I bought for nieces and nephews.

I asked for a GI Joe for Christmas 1964. Didn't get him.

But I did get him the next year!

I'm not sure the first thing I asked for, although I'm sure I did. I never really wrote out a letter to Santa, either, to my recollection but I always got a present marked from him.

But the two earliest Christmas gifts I remember were:
          1) a fuzzy-headed, talking GI-Joe in camo. It may have been from Santa or my parents. The next Fourth of July my 11-year-older brother strapped a bunch of bottle rockets on him in an attempt to make him fly. Didn't work. But Joe did look kind of cool with melted spots all over him.
          2) was a Marx Fort Apache playset with little plastic cavalry and Apaches. It was from my favorite aunt and uncle. I was his namesake. He must have bought a store display because it came set up on a big plywood board with everything tacked to the board. Talk about cool. But I was only about 3 or 4. Have no idea what happened to it.

It sure was. I have many fond memories of it. It got a lot of use.
