That's total BS, dude-- For that kind of money, It should be exactly what it is advertised to be. Period.

Toy collectors today have such insane expectations about everything that they can't appreciate the miracle of even getting a figure like this in the first place.
I don't know if you collect many Hot Toys figures or simply oppose differing opinions. But there are reasonable expectations for the money spent on any high dollar item. To simply broad stroke the criticisms as sour grapes because you like the head sculpt carries as much merit as your bravado concerning it's "miraculous" creation. This thread is discussing the shortcomings of the figure. If you enjoy yours, that's fantastic... You have one, right? But if you can't read reasonable concerns regarding what many feel are poor production standards for a $200 plus figure, then quit spreading your own misery by suggesting everyone who opposes your opinion is out to hurt your feelings. This is not a discount figure picked off a peg board.

Yeah, I have one and I can say without a doubt it's the best-looking, most accurately sculpted Christopher Reeve Superman figure ever produced for mass sale. Which one is better?

Grey skin? Maybe they are just doing a homage to a large portion of the vintage Mego 12" figures. But seriously, that is a great head sculpt!

I have like 10 Hot Toys figures ...
I gotta Say here ..., I have a real hard time believing I will be remotely disapointed in my Purchase. Some of the Comments in this Thread are Completely Idiotic, Starting with the Flipping Title, and brings back the Old debate of , " You can't please Everyone" ...., Even on an Epic Scale I suppose .

The one I'll customize for a third of the cost after I get the head and pegged boots.

I GOT MINES YESTERDAY!!!!! AND IT IS SOOOOOO AWESOME!!!!!! I see no defects, grayish flesh color,..just fantastic!! The sculpt is top-notch, the outfit boots,..EVERYTHING is so well detailed and super poseable,..ok...i do find that it should have came in a regular box, instead of soooo much carton used for it (chocolate box).....but the figure itself is simply dead on to the actor,....but also might understand why such a big box...its dedicated to our dearest hero and actor,...and he deserves it. RIP.

......And,...it gives you options on how to display it, either sealed in the (chocolate) box with its carton ice base, or its fortress of solitude base suspended in air or on the ice, or on its black stand with nameplate, or simply a stand alone as he has no issues standing by himself!

                    Over all to me,...a 9+ out of 10 !

You make an excellent point. I bought the Mattel version and think I'll do the same. A simple boot and head swap is all that figure needs.
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.

With better props too! . I'm going to put the new Reeve Supes head on a extra Hot Toys Indy body I have. It will be more realistic in scale and read better than the gray body version they partially painted. It also helps because that body has the same head and ankle inserts to accommodate the Supes head and boot plugs. He'll be kicking arse when he's done.

I've heard people on other sites complain about this figure, with many of the same issues as have been posted here. The only ones that I've seen photos of, have had very nice paint jobs. I found one flaw in the closeup, and that was that there was almost no black eye dot on one side. If anyone gets a bad one, could they please post it so I can see what they mean? For that price, the buyer has every right to high expectations. If there are flaws on some shipments, that's a real shame, because the headsculpt is kind of eerie in its accuracy.

I'm putting mine on a Hot Toys Indy figure. I haven't examined the Mattel body to know whether it could accommodate those pieces. I will be using the outfit though because I like that one better. Plus the belt is made better, which is flat scary for Mattel. I noticed inside the Hot Toys Superman head it has a ball joint, but it also looks removable. So it MAY be able to be removed to fit on a body with a ball joint neck. Lots of possibilities for this head sculpt.
