Well I went to the 2:40 show and the theatre was packed, so if this is any indication of the weekend numbers I think it will do very well! Even though I am not a huge fan of CGI, especially since I come from a generation of POTA movies past, I have to say it worked well here. This is actually a movie I would have liked to see done in 3D, apes swinging thru the trees coming right at you would have been pretty cool. I don't think any one will be disappointed, even the true POTA fans........CEASER IS HOME!

I saw it yesterday too. The 5 o'clock show was packed which I didn't expect. I really enjoyed it. I didn't think I would care for a cgi ape but I was wrong.

I went today to a 2 o'clock show and it was packed as well. First time I ever went to an early showing of a movie and found the theater packed. It was excellent, highly recommended.Comment

I posted in the science fiction thread but I saw it last night at the drivein as a double feature with captain America. the lot was full. Movie was fantastic. really well done. it did not feel like a POTA movie until maybe the end but in and of it self was just a really good movie. i even told my wife she needs to go see it as she would really like it just for the story and acting involved. they really did a superb job with this and I hope they continue as a new series, even if only loosely leading into the original 1968 movie. they definately dropped lots of clues and hints as to that happeningComment

MIB41 and I went to see ROTPOTA this afternoon and it knocked our socks off! Finally, a thinking science-fiction movie that actually has genuine acting, action and emotion. I'm still a little too brain-blasted by the actual shininess of the movie to write a decent review, but I can say, unequivocally, that it may be the BEST movie I saw all summer (sorry Norse Gods, Green Lanterns and Super Soldiers). Its story and characterizations are spot on, WETA can do ANYTHING [at this point, THE HOBBIT is going to be so damn spectacular EFX-wise it's gonna make other movies blush] and it makes the 2001 POTA debacle look like a steaming pile of ape feces...
I will attempt a better review after I've slept on it and I can wrap my head around it better.sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.Comment
