Reports are 77 million globally, exceeding expectations by far. I may need to make a geek solo run tonight....I haven't been this excited about a movie in awhile.

Tickets bought - meeting my brother for an 8:55 showing. Psyched for Andy Serkis layered in digital monkey.

Yes,way better than I would have thought a few months ago, though I hought the trailers really did look quite good. The CG is good, especially in the close ups.

I do think this movie is far better than most people could even have imagined it to be. The relationship between Franco and Lithgow's characters' is well written and well-played. Many people are complaining that "human actors took a backseat in this movie." I don't think that's necessarily true; I think there was just enough human emotion and interplay to give the movie the thought-provoking edge that it needed. This IS Caesar's movie, but Franco's and Lithgow's characters play crucial roles in Caesar's upbringing.

It's a very thought provoking film, which I liked. None of the other movies I saw this summer (including the highly over-rated SUPER 8) made me THINK like this movie or have lodged themselves in my brain with scenes playing over and over in my head. I will definitely be back to see this one multiple times.

                  "Caesar IS home....!"

sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

It was a wonderful movie, definitely the best I've seen this year. I loved the references to the Icarus. And James Franco was really good in this role. I was very impressed all the way around.

Jess and I and her hubby and kids went today. I gotta say I really liked this one a lot. Lotsa action, and heart. Jess can speak on this herself, but when I asked how she liked it, she merely said, "It was OK." Just OK? I thought it was really good. Even one of her sons says he wishes there'd be a Part 2. Definitely worth the price of admission (which Jess's hubby treated us all to, thanks Sammy!). Anyway, if you haven't seen this, what are you waiting for? Get off your dusty butt and check it out!

Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic

Good luck Caesar in finding enough grubs in Muir Woods. Guess you can always pat down the tourists for food.

I asked my husband what he thought. He said, "So is this a sequel or a prelude to a better movie?" Uh....sure. One can only hope.

Jess- how would you rate the new movie? I thought it was very good. I expected to see the apes grab some guns towards the end, or a bit more after the credits, yet I'm one who is tough to please. I wonder if there will be a sequel and where thet will pick the story up.

I agree the Icarus cameo was very cool.

It was meh. I tried to watch it with an open mind. I got tired of the CGI and I got tired of watching Caesar's expression. It wasn't a perfect movie, but it was better than Burton's POS.

There were too many nods to the original films. I was like...OK! I get it!! I get it!! Jeeezus.

Will I watch it again? Most likely not. Did I like it? Not enough, apparently.

Because I was emotionally detached from Caesar and his plight, the big revolt was just meh.
