What I loved about Bullet in the Head besides the usual John Woo bullet ballet was the other POV outside of American, and Vietnamese for that matter.

        John Woo's best film IMHO.
Totally agree! This my favorite Vietnam movie for the same reason.

Only one vote for Force 10 from Navarone. That was my movie as a kid. Always on HBO back in the day and always I ate fishsticks for some reason...

Most of my favorites have already been mentioned.

              Two others I really enjoyed
              "The Hurt Locker"
"Life is Beautiful" I highly recommend if you haven't seen it. I realize it is a subtitled Italian made movie and had no idea what it was about when it won best foreign film but very gut wrenching to watch. I told my 14 daughter the plot of the movie since she is studying the Holocaust at school and she started crying when I gave her the basic story line.

My friend and I were talking about Jerry Lewis and he told me about a film that had never been released that Jerry Lewis starred in and directed back in the late 60's or early 70's called "The Day The Clown Cried". I was stunned because I am a HUGE Jerry Lewis fan and never knew about this movie. It sort of sounds like Life Is Beautiful. Here's the Wikipedia link:

It looks like Lewis is determined to get it released.

And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
                  The beauty that surrounds them
                  Isn't it a pity".

                          Lawrence of Arabia.
A true epic! I watched it on the big screen recently, too. My arse fell asleep, but my eyeballs bugged out of my head.
