    Your top-5 favorite war movies

We did this some years ago but I thought i'd revisit the topic.

Could be any war, just so long as war is dominant thoughout the picture.
    Example, Forrest Gump wouldn't count.

Futurist wars, (Star Wars) don't count.

    Comedy's are ok.

If you want to list more or less than 5 that's fine ...

Wow, this is a tough one as I am not a huge war movie fan. However Black Hawk Down really got to me. That is one of the first Blu-Ray discs I ever bought. Se here goes

        1-Black Hawk Down
2-Stalag 17 (which I never would have seen if it hadn't been prominent in one of my favorite Magnum PI episodes)
        3-Apocalypse Now
        4-Platoon
        5-Saving Private Ryan

          1-Patton
          2-Saving Private Ryan
3-Bridges at Toko-Ri..: If you're a vintage GI Joe collector, you will LOVE this movie ~ Lots of vehicles and Naval uniforms were designed with this movie in mind.. Huge budget, great acting, very interesting viewpoints, James Michener was reportedly VERY pleased with this adaptation of his book. Please read this review..:

          http://movies.nytimes.com/movie/revi...B766838E649EDE

4-Missiles of October..: Technically, not a 'war movie', but we were on the brink of WWIII. Excellent CBS play, done MUCH better than '13 Days'
          5-The Green Berets

Sorry, I NEVER liked 'Blackhawk Down'.. Saw it with a fellow Army pal, and it was too depressing. Obviously, I know it documented actual events, but regardless, not a fav.

I typically don't like war movies, which is odd because I love GI Joe (although I won't be marrying him). I do like some war movies though. Since my favorites vary by mood, these are in no particular order...

Mike, is this the Taras Bulba you recommend or the older one?

The older one with Yule Brenner and Tony Curtis is the only one i've seen

The new one is spoken in Ukrainian and I hate subtitles
