    Huevos rancheros, best of all.

Then a nice denver omelet, or just plain scrambled..
    Peace.. Through Superior Firepower.

Sunny side up, poached, scrambled, boiled, pickled, omelet, fried egg sandwich w/ ketchup, whatever. I'm always up for eggs, any time of day. My favorite is probably sunny side up with toast for soaking up the yolk.

I like it when people say "free range eggs".
I always imagine these eggs roaming around by themselves, totally free and careless, and then the farmer has to herd them together into the egg cartons...

Every way! Poached, scrambled, sunny side up, pickled, over easy, deviled, soft boiled, hard boiled, whatever.

Back in the day on a lark I bought 12 chicks from my local market and raised them.

They used to walk around my back lawn

I had eggs every day (about as organic as you can get)

Let me tell you, they tasted exactly the same as store bought eggs --- not any better.

I heard that free range chicken (according to a news story) wasn't anything worth paying extra. Apparently chicken like to be in close proximity to one another. Caging them their entire lives isn't good but keeping them in a clean pen area is supposed to be as good if not better than letting them roam free.

Someone who is more familiar in raising chicken hopefully can shed some light on this.

This forum is in dire need of a chicken farmer.
Or a chicken would do nicely as well, as long as it can articulate its basic needs...

I like them OVER PERFECT, 4 slices of buttered dark rye toast, half a raw onion and a nice Rib-eye.

I think a lot of it has to do with mind set as far as the taste is concern.

I personally like the idea better of a chicken in a clean pen vs a nasty over crowded uncared for cage match.

                          Exactly.
An animal that's not cooped up in a tiny cage will be cleaner, healthier. And as far as ethics go, why not let them live a little before we kill them?

                            Agreed.

Hey...I'll gladly pay a little extra for eggs if I know the chickens are being treated more humanly.

What's wrong with letting them roam freely in an open environment than being stacked up against each other like canned sardines?

It even pertains to the actual consumption of chickens...that's why I make an effort to only buy free range chickens.

                            I mean...come on now...

                            Free range...

                            Caged...

Just imagine the urine and feces of the caged chickens...terrible...

                              We raised chickens in Mexico.

We had both free range...and when we had too many chickens...some had to be caged in close proximity (although not inhumanly like those giant processing poultry plants).

What happens raising them in an open environment is that they start displaying their "natural" habits...things like a pecking order, territorial disputes, and overall...a real life...things that animals are suppose to experience.

Once caged up...you take all their natural traits away...and basically live like robots...just standing still...doing absolutely nothing.

That is really sad to know that places like that (caged) even have to exist this day and time. I know they are considered food and all eventually, but like Hec said come on.....
