However, this being a board of collectors I brought up the point so people keep this point in mind down the road.
But first and foremost is my concern of the livelihoods those devastated by this force of nature.
Yes, with all the tech in the world and evolution happening within mankind it certainly doesn't amount to a hill of beans in comparison to nature's wrath.
      Hear you, my friend.

      Didn't mean to come across as...well...you know...Hectorish...

But yes...mother nature can be ruthless and brutal.

How horrible is this. First New Zeland and now Japan. Considering all of the quake activity it is quite disturbing what all the planet is going through. The thing that makes me shudder (while I am not forsaking any of those already affected) is the possible impacts of such continued activity here in the states. Considering the number of quakes that we've been experiencing in Arkansas in the past 6 months (800 so far) I'm afraid the worst is yet to come.

This big blue ball is completely intertwined and the "Butterfly Effect" is a very serious concern. Mind you I'm only talking about the ecological impact. The economic is a whole other can of worms.

If I may be so over cautious to remind EVERYONE here on the board that these type of events can effect us and it is in all of our best interests to have a disaster preparedness plan in place for our own families, friends, neighbors and city's.

Man I hope that the folks in Japan are okay. On a high note, one thing about the global community is certain, we will all rally together to help them in every way humanly possible.

Japan has just been hit with a 6.6 quake. This one IN Tokyo! So far 1,000 confirmed deceased. Over 80,000 MISSING.......80,000. Insane... Can't even wrap my mind around that concept.

Earth is a living planet...it has been doing this since the beginning.

But you are right...even bigger ones are eventually going to hit us.

That's 4 times the total population of the town I live in. My God that is horrible.

Eight foot waves and onshore damage confirmed in Crescent, California. Four people swept out to sea, one confirmed dead. Officials said these were people who ignored the evac order. Just a waste.

Are any of us close to Crescent, California and if so is everyone okay?

Nearby Santa Cruz, Ca., experienced some minor small boat fender benders...but nothing to be alarmed about...no reported injuries so far.

Terrible stuff. We were actually planning to leave for a trip to Japan this weekend to visit my wife's family (they are further south in Yokohama, a bit shaken but ok). I think we will be postponing due to all the flight cancelations, aftershocks, etc. It will be too nuts to bring the kids into that right now. The pics and videos I've seen are unreal, very tragic. My wife has managed to contact most of her friends and family, but there a couple friends up north that she hasn't heard from yet.

I haven't heard anything about a 6.6 quake in Tokyo though. Maybe just one of many aftershocks (some have been pretty strong).
