Assuming that most people live a nine-to-five lifestyle, not eating much after seven is a good habit. Even if I'm not modifying WHAT I eat too much, reshuffling the when is a good start.

I did half and hour on the elliptical last night, and I usually find the machines really monotonous, but my ipad made all the difference. These machines usually have a "magazine rack" thingy right in front of you... how about putting your new iphone on it and stream some shows? Most of the networks and cable channels have apps that stream on demand episodes of whatever your favourite shows are. I just wish they would let me have the Cartoon Network Adult Swim app up here in Canuckle land.
Just get one can...and drink it really cold...see what happens...

How about working out on a spinning/stationary bike in front of a flatscreen that's playing a virtual road...it might be less monotonous...

Here's one of my favourites that they sell at Loblaws (a Canadian grocery/big box chain).

Why opt for pop when you can treat your taste buds to the luscious taste of real fruit? We’ve added some sparkle and all natural flavour to real fruit concentrates to create this delightfully refreshing juice blend. Providing 2 servings of fruit and 100 calories per can, it offers a healthier alternative to carbonated soft drinks.

      Ingredients
Carbonated water, concentrated apple juice, concentrated white grape juice, concentrated orange juice, concentrated lemon juice, concentrated tangerine juice, natural flavour.

if you want something less sugary than juice, try mixing a no sugar added juice with some bubbly (sparkling) water like Topo Chico or perrier. My local grocer carries bubbly water in soda sized cans. We just pop one open and do about a 50/50 with some cranberry juice or whatever you like.

Smoothies are a great way to start up the day as well. We tend to throw a carrot and some lettuce or spinach in the smoothie. The added green does some wonders for you. Grapefruit is also good for jumpstarting the metabolism.

            .
            Yes, I've tried that...and it's great.

Orange juice (try a juice with 50% less sugar) mixed with Perrier...it turns the drink into Orangina...

When I really want to cut calories/sugar, I buy 12-packs of flavored seltzer; Target carries them near me. They do orange, lemon/lime & raspberry. No calories, but enough flavor & bubbles to keep from being boring. Minimal sodium, if I recall.

Coincidentally, I also just decided to get in better shape. I did treadmill & weights on Fri & Sat, and I'll go do it again tonight. I'm trying to organize a Biggest Loser contest at work: $20 buy-in, biggest loser by % takes the pot. So...while I'm starting to get back in shape, I need to keep the weight on until the contest starts...which is probably penny smart, pound foolish, I know.

Me too. Last year I was a cycling fiend, but of course, here in Canada, that kind of has to stop around November or so. I tried using a stationary during the winter, but just didn't keep up with it. I enjoy real cycling, actually going somewhere in the fresh air, but I just couldn't get as enthusiastic indoors. Maybe next winter I'll try a new machine. Any suggestions? But as soon as spring comes, I'm going to hit my bicycle hard.

I started seriously watching what I eat almost a year ago when I found out I was diabetic (I'm only a bit overweight, but unfortunately diabetes runs in the family). The very first thing I did was cut out the coca-cola I loved to drink, cold turkey. That alone made a huge impact on my blood sugar, practically brought me back down to normal levels and I probably lost over 15 pounds too in a couple months. The only diet soda I can really drink is diet ginger ale, but I keep it to one can a day. Besides that I really watch my sweets, and we are also cutting down a lot on salt. Also not too much canned/processed foods. I'm very lucky that my wife loves to cook, so she makes most of our meals from scratch and really watches the salt and sugar.

My big "to do" things now are more exercise and cardio and cutting down on the booze (I unfortunately like my wine with supper and beer on the weekends).

                        I've been an active guy and pretty fit for most of my life. I'm by no means an expert on the subject or a bodybuilder/fitness junkie, but Here's my advice;

When it comes to physical fitness, it's important to find something you ENJOY doing. Cardiovascular heath as well as just being in good shape in general, all starts with being fired up to do something physical every day, that will help you stay in shape. For me, it's freediving and surfing, but it could literally be anything; Tennis, Golf, Soccer, walking, running, cycling, hockey, hiking, etc... Any of these activities done on a regular basis (at least 3 times a week), combined with a balanced diet, will do the trick.

I'll also add that I do not smoke, drink to excess or do drugs. Never have. I like to have a glass of wine or the occasional cocktail here or there and I hate beer, but I've never been drunk or high in my life. A lot of people don't want to admit this to themselves, but not doing those things contributes IMMENSELY to your physical fitness and overall health and well being.

I'm in much worse shape than I should be, but I'm working on it. I have an elliptical trainer and drink Joint Juice for my crap knees. For a snack, Kroger Carb Master yogurt. Check it out.
