Our house is built on an underground stream. In order to keep our basement dry with have 2 sump pumps and a french drain. I wish we would have known before we moved in, we lost a lot of stuff before we put in the french drain.

That's interesting Type3Toys. We have one sump pump and it can run for days if we get a heavy rain that produces roughly two inches of water (It can start on less than that if we're in a wet season). I have a battery powered backup pump in case my main one fails. This year has been relatively dry so my pump has not run nearly as much. But I'm curious. If a french drain is a route I wanted to explore, would you recommend doing it as a home project (meaning myself) or is it better to pay to have it done professionally? I haven't had any water breeches in my basement to date (knock on wood). But I'm always looking for another line of defense to keep me safe. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I hate water in the basement...we've had it quite a few times over the years...So I can only imagine how much it sucks to actually have it on your main floor.....Bleech!Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment
