Green Lantern vs. Green Hornet?

Agreed...And Lantern is gonna have much hangtime this year than the Hornet did...It's a franchise that is going to thrive for quite a while, while Seth Rogen probably put the final nail into the GH coffin...there won't be any Flight of the Bumblebee or any other kind of buzz for quite a long while with this property....Think OUTSIDE the Box! It had a worldwide gross of $227M and $120M to produce....I'd call that a home run compared to Green Lantern's current world wide gross vs. production costs. If things don't pick up for Green Lantern at the box office; a sequel will probably not be made. I'm not picking sides. Just kind of a fun thread to revisit now that both movies have been released and reading what everyone thought even before seeing either of the movies....not to mention Thor or Capt. America."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

the green hornet did better in the foreign market than the domestic especially in asia because of pop star jay chou who played kato. according to a friend of mine who works in the industry, there are no current plans slated for the green hornet at least thru 2012. the studio did not initially sign rogen or chou for a sequel and may very well go with differnent actors as those 2 would probably want more money.
cant say how the lantern will fair. it looks like he's fading quickly. actually quite surprised by that.Comment

I still believe Lantern will find it's success on DVD. After enough people see it, I think it will do well and bolster the studio's plans to move forward with a sequel. That is my hope anyway.

I didn't see Hornet in theaters and have no plans to see Lantern until DVD. I found hornet to be entrertaining and enjoyed the dvd but probably would have been disappointed if I saw it in a theater. I look at gross box officer regardless of country and Greem Hornet did well. I have a bad feeling that GL is toast after this weekend."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

Wow, just got back from GL and ... that was bad. Thankfully never saw GH and will likely keep it that way. Here's a short snippet of conversation my wife and I shared about halfway through the movie:
Tim: "Wow, this dialogue is horrid. It's as bad as... as bad as..."
Wife: "A Star Wars prequel?"
Tim: "YES!"Comment
