Green Lantern vs. Green Hornet?

Predictions?

Based on trailers; I think Green Lantern will do ok but not a blockbuster.

I think Green Hornet is going to knock it out of the park. Right mix of characters along with humor will throw this one into a big time winner.

I think Lantern will do more money. It's a big mindless CGI blockbuster, which is likely to be a big hit with people.

Hornet is a bit obscure, won't necessarily draw in the old school GH fans and it's got a much smaller built-in fanbase. Plus the tie-ins are weak. No big toylines coming or anything.

Hornet may end up being the better movie, but it's hard to say. I haven't had much faith in that project for a while, even though I love the Hornet. The GL movie will likely disappoint more nerds, but like Transformers, they'll still eat it up.

Lantern will destroy Hornet numbers wise (winter versus summer release) but green Hornet could end up as a classic comedy hero movie.

Just watched the Green Hornet trailer...looks like it might be aimed at teenagers?

I'll check it out for sure, but not in the theatre.

I'd imagine that Green Lantern will be much more of a hit. (Though the trailer for GL didnt 'wow' me either - Reynolds comes off as smarmy and ill-cast in my opinion - reminded me of the trailer for Fantastic Four II. )

GL will definately do bigger numbers. like already mentioned, there is a reason a movie like this comes out in the summer months.
GH, although I do want to see, looks pretty dopey to me and I fear will go down like Catwoman and Electra as one of the really, really bad genre movies. I hope I'm wrong though

If memory serves Elektra, Daredevil and Ghost Rider all opened during the January-February winter doldrums....None of those films were blockbusters or had any legs at the box office. A January opening for Green Hornet doesn't bode well for the film IMO. Watchmen was another that debuted in the time period and had lackluster returns.

^^if good quality movies are made, then the genre can continue for a while. if we start getting crappy movies like Catwoman and Electra then yes, people will get tired of it and the genre will be gone for a while.
