Happy Days Appreciation Thread

Yes Ive been following the show as well. You can definetley tell the end is near. Its 50's feel is long gone. All these add on charecters make it confusing as well. I don't know about anyone else but by this point in my life I had forgotten Happy Days was still on.
You figure as show as iconic as Happy Days the final episode would have been as big as MASH or something but by this point no one cared about it in its final years. Plus seeing the other actors star and act in campy 80's movies was another blow to its demise..haha.

I still watched Happy Days during this period. I preferred the reruns in syndication, but it was still Happy Days (kind of). I think the final episode is well done. Especially when Mr. C breaks the fouth wall and talks to the audience. Fonzie's adoption of the never-seen-before boy was a bit forced though.

I saw the episode last night that explained what happened to Ashely and Heather. The ex-husband came back, sobered up. It was a plot retread from back in the Richie years when Fonzie was serious about a lady with a young son. The dad came back, and Fonzie backed off. Recyle, recycle, recycle!!!

From what I'm seeing, this last season is an improvement over the previous several. All of the add-on characters really bogged the show down, and it didn't have much of an identity. On one of last night's episodes, poor Potsie actually got to do something for the first time in 3 years.

A VERY minor 'shark-jump' point for me... When Fonzie started wearing black shirts instead of white.

Extremely coincidental , but I noticed that I didn't care much for the episodes after that, and Williams, Howard, and Most all seemed a bit old to play young college student-types.

Goofy, I know, but I said it was coincidental.

Odd that you bring that up. I noticed post-Richie, Fonzie NEVER seems to wear the black T-shirt anymore. As a kid, I thought it made him look "cooler". He barely says "Ayyy..." at this point in the series too.

It's like they tried to take away the cartoonier aspects of the character that slowly crept in, and in doing so, left us with just aging Henry Winkler in a leather jacket.

Another post from me on this never-ending thread but...

...Last night they aired "Welcome Home" parts 1 and 2, with the return of Richie (and Ralph, briefly). I missed the first 15 minutes of it, but I found myself remembering it very well. Clearly a standout amongst the last several seasons.

When I was a kid and first saw this, I couldn't understand why Richie was so mean. Now of course I get it. We've all made sacrifices to keep our loved ones happy. Well-done episode, and the kind of send-off the Richie character should have had in the first place.

So nothing to look forward to now until the end. Maybe they'll surprise us. As I said before, this season is a vast improvement over the last several before it.

Yeah, my son got hooked on Happy Days when they moved it to 8 and 8:30. 10 was past his bedtime. He missed all the good episodes! Now he'll get another chance.

I wonder where Anson Williams was? He got the shaft again!

I vaguely recall this. I remember wishing it was just a normal Happy Days cartoon. I thought the same thing about the Dukes toon, which started with Coy and Vance and ended with Bo and Luke (and is now on DVD I think).

The site says Fonzie joined the army (!) and became a mechanic on base. I do recall the Private Benjamin-like aspect of the Laverne and Shirley cartoon. I remember Mork had an egg car, that's it.

Yep were in the final season on Hub. I can tell by watching, the show was running on fumes at this point. By next week or so we should be back in season 1. I do wanna see the final episode though and since the Hub cuts up some episodes I wanna see if they show the farewell toast.

Well, the Hub is back to season 1. They showed the first two episodes last night. "Arnold's" was "Arthur's" in the premiere!!!

They skipped the finale! The last new episode they showed on Tuesday night concerned Fonzie moving out of the Cunningham's apartment. As much as I'm ready to be out of the later years, I did want to see the finale again.

Oddly enough, they showed the series finale of "The Wonder Years", broken up over two nights even!
