    Happy Days Appreciation Thread

I've been watching re-runs on the Hub (Mon-Thurs 10-11pm est) and I gotta say....I missed this show! Of course it jumped the shark a few years after Fonzie actually jumped the shark (probably when Ron Howard and Donny Most left for the army) but the earlier episodes are still gems in my eye.

Right now they're at about 1976 when the show was HUGE! A few nights ago they had the 3-part demolition derby marathon with Pinky Tuscadero and the dreaded Malachi Brothers ("Let the pigeons loose!") I remember these episodes being talked about on the playground during recess back in the day.

I find myself quoting along to many scenes...much to the chagrin of my wife

    Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Oh I know! I was in the 6th grade when Pinky made her debut. There was this girl in my class named Sonia who FOREVER imitating her! Everyone talked about that ep! The other really popular ones were the funeral ep, (where Fonzie "dies"), and the dance contest where Fonzie does those incredible moves! I had a Fonzie T-shirt and poster on my wall from Dynamite magazine. One of my kids dad calls her "Fonzerelli" b/c she's cool. I made her a shirt and got her a CTVT Fonzie doll. She loves it, and watched Happy Days on The Hub, too. Watching those shows takes me right back to 6th grade.

I have the first few seasons on DVD actually....but I never think to watch them...It's just different when it's "scheduled" viewing at 10 o'clock ever night

Although I have noticed some episodes on The Hub where entire scenes have been edited out...Doh!

The dance marathon was on tonight actually....with a pre-Dallas Charlene Tilton and a pre-Superman The Movie Marc McClure (Jimmy Olsen) as Joanie's boyfriend....

It seems the Hub carries a lot of classics from back in the days, I think I am going with the $8.99 a month netfix on wii, seems to be the best deal out there for the buck right now.

I love that Happy Days, and that episode in particular, was still culturally relevant when this video came out in 1994.

Not to get off topic but I just started watching season one of the Odd Couple, such a good show......

Hogans Heroes and The Mod Squad are next on my list.

Mego Fonzie will always be in my top five favorites. After catching the show again myself not too long ago, I'm really tempted to pick up all of the CTVT reimagined line. Just the kind of dork that I am. Man that was a fun show.

Hey Jim, I did notice that when I bought the CTVT Fonzie that the arm lever doesn't work too well, and the head that I gave the doll to didn't care, but you might.

I used to love Happy Days back when it was new ... Today it's very hard for me to watch... I don't know why.
It's the same with Mash for me too.

My favorites were the first few seasons.

I found the same thing to be true with some of the shows I used to love, but Happy Days, Honeymooners, Odd Couple and others still hold that same appeal to me....

The Malachi Brothers were really the best part of those episodes
Although Roz Kelly looked hot as Pinky the dialogue between her and the Fonz was horrible The lines seemed so forced...not sure if that was the writing or the fact that no one on the set apparently liked Kelly. The legend has always been that she mocked the Fonz character between takes with poor imitations and the producers never asked her back.
