^ I remember one of those clip show reunions for Happy Days. I think it was late 90s-ish? They had both Chucks on there, and acknowledged the oddity of Chuck disappearing from existence (much like Fonzie's nephew Spike. Later, Fonzie was an only child).
Oddly enough, another thing that That 70's Show borrowed from Happy Days: Donna had a little sister, very briefly in the earliest episodes. She was only seen once as I recalled, and then disappeared.

I thought at one point Spike was acknowledged as Fonzie's actual cousin...but because of the age difference he looked up to the Fonz as his "uncle".Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

For continuity's sake, I always thought those Chuck-centric episodes could be used still, only just refer to Chuck as Richie's older cousin who is staying in Milwaukee while he attends college.Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

That's true... It was mentioned in one of the episodes they showed last week (where Spike helped break into Arnold's)...Comment

It's funny the stuff I have the most nostalgia for is the stuff I loved in the early to mid 70's like Star Trek, All In The Family, Six Million Dollar Man, Emergency!, Space:1999, etc.
The stuff I liked in the later 70's like Happy Days, Laverne And Shirley, Dukes Of Hazzard, Diff'rent Strokes, etc I am less inclined to make a point to re-visit. That's not to say if I find an episode of one of those shows on cable I wouldn't watch it but I don't actively seek them out or get them on DVD.
I suppose that it has something to do with how my perception of TV and movies in the later 70's was less "magical" then in the early 70's and in the later 70's, it was fun but just plain 'ol TV. Even though I still like some of these later 70's shows.
P.S. This can change at any time and suddenly I can get an urge to dig up some Happy Days and Quark.Comment

15 TV Characters That Disappeared Without Explanation
"Interestingly enough this phenomenon of disappearing cast members has come to be known as "Chuck Cunningham Syndrome"."
Fun article though. I think Family Matters later ditched two other characters too. The former Tony Orlando and Dawn singer and her son. I think it was Carl's sister-and-law and nephew? Heck, I think they even replaced the the mom on that show!

I have to say that "unseen" was soooo much better...nothing against Cathy Silvers but I was more fun to speculate what this "Jenny Piccolo" looked like than to actually see her.
I really didn't care for any of the add-on characters during that era.....Roger, his brother "Flip", Howard's niece KC, etc. ....Very poor era for Happy Days that was only saved IMO with the return of Ron Howard in the finale.Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment
