But since there have been no Martians yet, in this case, maybe it wouldn't be a new species, it would be a new nationality like German or Egyptian. If you apply for Mars citizenship, maybe you would then be a Martian.

In my mind, your not really living on the planet, so much as just be sustained in an artificial environment while observing the planet. It wouldn't be any different than if they submerged you underwater for the rest of your life. It's the same difference.

As Generic says it would be a new nationality but that would only be at first. The gravity on Mars is different and as time goes on, if people live there, they will start to change physically. As generations go by they will start to evolve differently. Some people will change to the point where they could no longer return to Earth and walk around here like normal. I often think Venus would be better if only they could cool the planet down where people could live on it. Veuns is the same size as Earth it's just too hot to live on.
